Requested by Mr.Ogre original member of Jonah Quizz. The demo of his own band!!!!

Jonah Quizz no matter what you say is one of the 10 best Swedish metal bands ever existed.I recommend everyone in this forum who likes classic heavy metal to download this. There is no excuse for everyone not to love that stuff.

ogre08 wrote: Yes FÅ, we had a LOT of GREAT metal tracks, always on the "melodic" side of heavy Metal. As said before 5 guys Johan ( Candlemass) on vocals, Kenta ( Geddy Lee ) on base, Anders ( Nugent ) Guitarr, Tony ( KK Downing ) Guitar, Ogre (me) on drums.

So, FÅ - how / where did you get our music? is there any MP3's available? i would shure like to have them......
The demo of JQ is spread through MP3's and believe me there are lots of fans of JQ all over the world.
There was an upload before some months by mordred (member of this forum from Sweden) he propably have transformed his tape into digital sound but the last track ''Gå'' sounds as quality goes too bad in comparizon with the other 3tracks he said the tape is damaged at the end so the track ''Gå'' can hardly be heared(someone must find a healthy tape to transform into MP3).
I am interested to know about the last names not just the nicks or first names of the band.
Is there a foto/cover or is there a possibility to scan some old photos?
Do you want me to upload the Jonah Quizz demo in case you have not in MP3 format?
The first demo would be cool to have though i have no idea how converting into MP3's(it is very difficult in my opinion). The best solution since you live in Stockholm is to meet up with Dan(Moderator,Owner of this site, and JQ enthusiast) so you can have some interview and the tape uploaded(
:D ).
What do you say about this?
OK FÅ, thanx for the info regarding our demo - YES - PLEASE UPLOAD !!
There are old fotos of us at gigs etc.... I just dont have them with me right now. But let me check out where the album is........ I'll get back to you. Maybe i can hook up with Dan, and maybe he can help me with the process of producing MP3's.....?

Concerning the full names of bandmembers, i will have to get back to you on that one because that could be a matter of integrity - and i have to check with the other guys first - hope you can understand that! You see we are older guys these days with families and stuff.......
Anyway it's only Johan who has made a career as a musician, so for the rest of us, we are just hobby-metalions, i for instance beat my Roland TDK8 drumkit every damn evening. No band playing - just for fun!!

Hey Guys
I've listened to to MP3 version of the demo now - and man - we still rock !
Tanx ALot DawnWatcher for your help !!!
Sadly the medley stick where the track "attack" goes into the track "gå" is gone, and whats worse - the sound quality of maybe the best track "gå" is lousy. I have to get someone with the right equipment to help me with the mastertape. And maybe remaster the sound to get a more PHAT sound..??

Any ideas??

Hi Ogre,

Have you heard that Enforcer (young Swedish heavy metal band) have recorded a proper quality Attack cover for a b-side single/EP future release? I've got a live version of them playing it. Just curious if you guys knew anything about this.

Wow! now there is a few members from old bands hanging around here, and what an honour to have a representative from the mighty JONAH QUIZZ!

No it's no problem, James! I hope Orge doesn't mind us playing it ;) we always credit you guys for the song if we play it :) Just have in mind that it is live and it's not the best performance..

And by the way, why don't you like the sound on the demo? I think it has a killer sound! Especially the snare sounds amazingly heavy! What kind of snare did you use?

Nightlock, Tanz Alot dude !

Enforcer, YEAH - its a hell of a livetrack, i can see why you play it!
Its a great performance by you guys, Maybe a bit to fast , or maybe the singer was tired after a long swetty gig ? I remember Johan sometimes had problems with the paste when i counted in the song to fast, that sometimes happens when your pulse is at its maximum  but you left out the great slow part in the middle........? the girls used to love that part especially hehe

The sound on the demo was really quite good, concerning our budget at that time, its the quality of the ripped mp3's thats bad. But since it has passed nearly 25 years since we recorded it........

The snare drum was my pride - it was a metal plated pearl snare - their deepest snare drum at that time. A real METAL snare with a kickass sound to it - i dont recall the specific inch measurement of the snare - sorry!

by the way, when we recorded the demo at Decibel Studios ( Slussen - Sthlm )my toms where so crappy and sounded like shit i had to borrow a couple of toms from another band in session there. The band was a pretty famous Swedish Punkband at that time called NOICE.

Hi there Ogre, an honour to have a member of the mighty JQ on here! :D
It was I that ripped the Jonah Quizz demo and spread it a few years ago - and the demo has always been greeted with enthusiasm and praise! The tape I had (which sounds ok but is a 2nd generation cassette copy) was sadly cut off at the end and only contained about 1 minute of Gå!, that's why the medley stick is not complete. I did however have a very bad cassette copy of the complete demo, so I decided to rip Gå! from that to make it complete. I tried as best I could to enhance the sound quality (believe me, it sounded worse to begin with!) but obviously to much audio information had been lost from being copied so many times. That's why the sound quality on the Gå mp3 is not as good as the other three.
Chroming Rose “Pressure” LP found! :D

Greetings Mordred.
A bit surprised am i , finding out our music still kicks. really cool
Well, i've always known that JQ music would kick ass for all times, but the fact that it's spread on the Internet really amazes me
Even though i am not an active band member these days my heart is forged in metal - and always will be. It tears me to know that you guys listen to GÅ in such a terrible state ( although you must have made a great job with the ripping Mordred). In my opinion the Medley stick with Attack and Gå is the heaviest, fastest on the demo. Tell me Mordred how you actually rip the tracks of an old cassette tape? You can PM me if you like. Maybe if i have the proper material and you have the knowledge and tools......... Maybe theres an earlier demo as well......

Ripping is very easy. You need:
# A stereo with a cassette deck and a line out connection.
# A computer with a soundcard and a line in connection.
# An audio cable to connect the stereo and the computer to each other.
# Software to record from cassette deck to computer.

Then, if you want to meddle with the songs after recording them, you need some sorta software. I recommend Cool Edit/Adobe Audition, which is both powerful and user friendly.

If you like, I could rip the tapes for you. If you still live in Jakobsberg we could easily meet up around christmas, as I am actually gonna spend it in nearby town Kallhäll. If you like to do it yourself, you can ask me anything you like, pm or e-mail me if you want.

The first demo - is it the one with "Dödsängeln" and "Bland Skyarna"? I have a tape of that somewhere as well, but as the copy is really poor I never ripped it.

cheers

Awesome Mordred - tanx a million.
I think i will try to rip it myself - to begin with. Rest asure i will need your support during the process. Nope, dont live in Jakan anymore - but parts of my family does , so i'm visiting the place now and then. If we need to meet up i'll mess you so we can decide time / and place . Yepp - the first demo is the one with "Dödsängeln" och "Skyarna" samt "förstör inte ditt liv" and a real lousy track called "AnnCatrin". I will go through my drawers at home searching for the tapes ASAP.

Be back soon, SeeYa
