Great album from start to finish! The rest of his stuff is unfortunately extremely uneven in terms of quality, but "Only the Strong" is awesome.

Devastation of Musculation is a real black sheep in his vast post 80's catalogue in the sense that it's actually really good. All the others are shit with one or two good songs at the most.

Nugent is pretty close, but to me it's more like The Sweet without the background harmonies. I like that kind of thing, but Only the Strong is definitely Thor's strongest moment.

He does try to imitate The Sweet there. But the music is much too weak and simple to come close to being Sweet.

I must say I still like the 70s video more than that boring 80s video Avenger posted. And no, I don't have any Thor albums.

I believe some people here should study both Sweet and Nugent more closely. Some of their stuff might be closer to eighties Pentagram, Raven or Anvil than you would think. Yup, Sweet can be pretty sinister at times and Ted Nugent just as ADHD-ridden as Lips and Mark Gallagher. Definitely important proto-metal acts, just as Sabbath, Priest or Rainbow.

On topic: need to pull 'em out of the shelves for relistening before talking. Thor seems one of them good guys anyhow.

Of course you're right! Well, partly so as none of them were completely "metallic" from day one. Then again, in the seventies they were working in a pre-metal context forming musical prototypes for future acts to relate to. (bound to confuse, I am)
