The 'big name' guitarist that I never could stand was Dimebag from Pantera. Never saw/heard what the big deal was about this guy's playing. Hated his leads, his riffs, his guitar tone, all of it. Just my opinion

Well, I think he was a hell of a player but you're right about that tone of his, alot of times it came across very "processed", like he couldn't play unless it was drenched in effects, same for this brothers drum sound, completely over done.

Haha, maybe the title should be changed to "Over-rated Guitar Players".
I'd agree with dimebag.

How about Jon Schaeffer? He's made about a dozen albums and it seems like he's only used three riffs.

...two of which are lifted from Master of Puppets! I like the first Iced Earth albums a lot though, especially Night of the stormrider

I can't stand a single thing about that corny motherfucker's guitar playing either.
Scorpions post-Uli Roth era is basically a single display of utter guitar boredom for me, sorry. I guess you can't call any of these 'shit' guitar players technically, but creatively, completely.
Anyone who abuses pinch harmonics needs to give it up as well.

Although i think the guy is a great guitar player on record i hate the way Janick butchers Adrians solos when they're playing live! Why does he still play Adrians stuff? It irritates the fuck out of me.

I agree, Jannick Gers sucks, his scenic attitude is ridiculous ! And he brings nothing to Maiden.

Well of course...technically it's marvelous...but er....it's fairly much the epitome of shit to me. The sweeps at the end are especially garish!
