Having a hard time with the production on Dominator it still is a brilliant album. I voted for S/T, though, as it is one of those albums that shot me off in the direction that some twenty odd years later brought me here (the Corroseum). I first heard their stuff on the Metal Inferno compilation and found a copy of the S/T album a while later, realizing it lived up to and beyond all expectations. A magic album. I guess I prefer Potter's deliverance over North's, but both are bloody great.

Yeah, the production on Dominator is rather bad. You can hear one of the bassdrums, the snare, the ride, the leadguitar and the vocals very good. The rest just rumbles in the background.

I picked the self-titled. Actually, I'm surprised it's so far ahead. I thought more people would've voted for A Sultan's Ransom. (It's a tough choice!)

Picked "A Sultans Ransom" for being a true masterpiece but I never heard Dominator though. Is that one in the same vein as A Sultans Ransom or more comparable to their old sound?

The self titled one!!!!!!!, it's simply their best!!, and the best song there is, in my opinion, Return of the Passover. Simply amazing!!!!

It's closer to ASR, only rawer and less melodic.

No.

And this has been stated here before.

As for the original topic, "A Sultan's Ransom" is nearly flawless, a Power Metal Masterpiece.

It's really good apart from "Crack the Whip", which is a bit cheddary.

Cheers. It seems it's quite rare. No wonder I've never heard it.

Yeah, I hate that song. I wish they'd put Road of Eagles on the album instead of Crack the Whip.

I agree Crack the Whip is the weakest song but I certainly don't hate it. They probably felt they wanted something more straight forward since they already had two meaty epics in The Gates of Gehenna and Return of the Passover, so they decided not to include Road of Eagles. And we did get the ultimate, immortal version of Road of Eagles on Dominator.

Straightforward is okay, AC/DC rip-offs I'd rather not listen to.
