The Dragonslayer EP is pretty weak IMO, but I like the Aurora single

I'm too cheap/broke to overpay for many things. A few things I bought long ago for a reasonable price have gone down in price since. Always a lousy feeling when you realize that the $200 record you bought 5 years ago now only sells for $100. That's one reason I've never thought of buying records as a great investment

Dragonslayer on their demo is far more superior.

I haven't had any really bad ones. There were a few CDs that I bought for $20 that turned out to be bootlegs, but that's about it.

I mostly had good luck to buy unknown stuff but this one was just a crappy cd. It was described as "killer melodic metal" and I thought the coverartwork just looks good too (there are skulls on it :D )...so I bid on it!

Hell, this is really f....n horrible punkish hard rock - so keep your hands away of it if you decide to buy it!!!

Dragonslayer 7" is crap only in proper context, aka in comparison with their godly demos.

And some ultra expensive thrash CDs but for the most time those were my top wanted items ...

I just bought two CDs without ever hearing them, that aren't listed on the archives and described as thrash, so I hope for the best ;)

Grimlock - Neurotic Facade (I also saw it labeled as jazz, but it's listed on Roco's thrashmetal.info collection list)
Blackend - Unknown World (Swedish band from 1994, Local Hero Music, seller's description: Ultra rare Swedish very high quality Bay Area style old school thrash metal. Razorsharp riffing and overall great musicianship. Do not confuse this band with the German band of the same name. This band hailed from Halmstad in the south of Sweden and this great-sounding 3-song release was recorded at the famous Tits N Ass-studio by Mats Persson (Gyllene Tider-guitarist/producer) who does Per Gessle's/ROXETTE's demos. Nearly impossible to find. Mint condition.)
I've heard bits and pieces of that one. Definite thrash riffs and influences, but does have some of the growing "groove" sound in it as well.

There's been a couple of times in the past that I've either been in a hurry or impulsively bought a CD without reading through the auction listing detailing that it's a cut-out. Needless to say that I was pissed off at myself when that shit arrived in the mail. I definitely learned my lesson.

There are more stupid things that I’ve done, but I can’t recall right now at 5:00 AM.

Agreed !

I paid a shitload for the second Medieval Demo. Well it was listed for 200$ and in an impulse I sent an offer for 80$ and got it. I didnt really expected it to be accepted but there. On the other hand it's a bloody great demo so I don't really regret it...I just think I might have gotten it much cheaper if I waited.

But the dumbest move was probably the Master's Hammer 1990 demo for 60$ . I looked real in the auction but apart from the tape itself looking genuinely old and stuff, I noticed the inlay itself looks pretty shabby after i recieved it, blurry and with a strange purple tone. Guess it's a bootleg but not really sure
Well at least the sound quality is better than any rip on the net and it even has the finished demo on the b side
hope to send a pic to franta storm soon so this issue can finally be cleared out

It's pretty naive to think your Master's hammer demo could be legit while it was established that he was a big fraud faking all his tapes.

I got fucked on ebay for $25 for a bootlegged Bloodbath (YUG) demo.
Bought/traded for the Parabellum - Sacrilegio LP (second edition) for around €80 some years ago. The music is very good but the cover is just paper, and the vinyl pressing quality is just downright bad. So I did kind of regret that one.
Bought some Immolation shirt for €50 which turned out to have some holes and the print horribly off-centre.

But for every bad buy I've picked up dozens of bargains so I won't complain.

not ebay but yahoo japan auction

some years ago i bought RAZOR CD on yahoo auction.
i was sure that is 2-on-1 Reborn Classic CD.
but when i receive it, i found that is just HOME MADE CDR with poor quality color printed booklet. i paid about $50 for it.

During my first days on e-bay (not so long ago, mind you), I was in a stupid last minute biiding battle for Brocas Helm's Into Battle.

I ended up paying 48 Euros, plus shipping.

Stupid. It was the Steamhammer licenced edition.

Well, that's a horrible price for sure, but i can still kinda understand why you did it. It was BROCAS HELM in the end...
