I love that 7", primitive and evil music indeed. Not so metallic though.

Yeah, I think many of the old NWOBHM bands all had their share of punkrock vibes. In everything from early Iron Maiden to Mythra. I guess its the brittish working-class spirit.

The Brats in '80 did mix some Punk Rock with Heavy Metal. The result was pretty good.

if we're not sticking to british bands (based on 2 other posts) here the 1st Twisted Sister self-released 45 from '79 has a pretty punky sounding version of Under the Blade on it.
(also just because I watched it for like the 150th time the live 82 version of Under the Blade on youtube is incredible)

Most of it was either that or 70's styled rock played at a higher energy.

First thing that came to mind upon reading the title of this thread is the SPEED single featuring a young Bruce Dickinson on vocals.
The first SATAN single has a total d-beat tune on it.
I've always thought the debut HOLOCAUST LP had punk overtones.

Yeah, that's right but I think it's mostly due to Gary Lettice vocals, he sometimes makes me think of the UK SUBS singer.

I tend to agree on all the rest. The Brats LP although not British is the perfect blend of hard rock & punk rock > a heavy rocker!

I'm actually inclined to think most of the whole movement has strong connections to punk. Demon Pact, Satanic Rites, Centurion etc etc all this stuff has a raw and dirty almost punk street snarl. I was saying to a friend the other day that it's almost like a lot of bands assessed punk and took all the cool elements and left behind all the crap and angst.
A lot of those guys would have been in punk bands in the late 70's too I'm sure it makes sense that they retain some of the same musical ideals.

The Blood (even though to be honest I only know their track in the 'Metal Inferno' compilation).
