I have never heard any material of JP.

I once searched for AD but it seems it's not for sale anymore.

At their KIT show, only the AD material could keep me awake. But in general, I'm not that big a fan of JP.

I don't thin it's overrated but I've never liked Jag Panzer so much.
My holy bible of Heavy Metal would be one of the Judas Priest albums.

Blueprint is Tyrants EP. AD is done very well. I'd say it should epitomize US Metal.

Let's just call it the "Book of Metal", I guess that's more diplomatic.

Edit. BTW this kind of discussion is fun because instead of bashing together some really awful bands like Cradle of Filth etc. We're talking about mixed opinions about an album (and a band) that many metal head holds as one of their favourite ones. And instead of just praising it in one big choir we hear not-so-common opinions about the subject. I just think that's interesting once in a while.

It might be a top 10 US metal LP, but "the holy bible of heavy metal"? That''s ridicilous.

Ok, I'll have to make a few things clear now, in all seriousness, so listen:

AMPLE DESTRUCTION is overrated!!!

It's a great album, but there are soooo many that are better! "Only" 3 songs I would call really really outstanding, namely GENERALLY HOSTILE, THE WATCHING and some parts of THE CRUCIFIX.

AMPLE DESTRUCTION is not the holy cow of Power Metal, period.
**************************************************************

Ample Destruction is a 10 out a 10. And in the top 100 albums of alltime, in the Genre of Heavy Metal.

For August 1984, "Ample Destruciton" this was pretty world class guitar playing and world class guitar playing, with a world class vocalist.

My favorite sub-genre is bay area thrash and death metal...but I started with NWOBHM in 1979/ 1980, and I know how original sounding this was as metal was developing as a genre.

When looking for collectors books to add to my collection, this is one of the albums I look up, and if the moron or poser or both... can not figure out that this is a 10 out a 10, then I just "pass" on that bullshit publication.

I also look for rock albums called metal classics, by these a$$hole$. Would you trust any heavy metal book that rated this a 4 out of 10, and Korn "Korn" a 10 out of 10.

Since 1970 the heavy metal genre has always had a problem with the fans telling the difference between what they like and what is false metal. A false claim by a rock band/ label/ magazine/ distro claiming a new fresh rock and roll band being the future of heavy metal.

A few posts on this thread are just hilarious. This is one of those albums where there's no discussions to be done. PERFECT.

Kick Ass Monthly is the one that's overrated, not Ample Destruction.

"Ample Destruction" is overrated, indeed!! It's not the best album ever made in the universe, only the best fucking album made on earth!!!! (OK, exaggerating a bit. ! In the top five definitely.)

There's no such thing as overrated.
