AGONY - "The First Defiance" would fit that bill - as would MEZZROW's - "Then Came The Killing". I'd also go for the RE-ANIMATOR (UK) first mini-lp and their debut ("Deny Reality" and "Condemned To Eternity" respectively) and D.A.M's "Human Wreckage" and "Inside Out" lps.

"Human Wreckage" !
Thanks, that was driving me crazy trying to remember the albums title.
I was about to cave in & google it.
The old memory ain't what it was.

I agree with Slammer.

Especially the vocals.

Although, Slammer is more aggressive.

If memory serves, TORANAGA's "Bastard Ballads" was also cut from the same cloth, although i haven't heard it for decades.
Here's a D.A.M. video:

Maybe live they were different?

Thanks for that blast from the past. Maybe they did sound different live, i remember the singer being more Hetfield like in the vocals. It was a long time ago right enough, and much alcohol was involved.

What about Megadeth.Since the band was formed Always follows the steps of Metallica.Mustaine shits on the band because some of the lyrics-tracks belongs to him.The Black Album-Countdown,Load or Re-Load-Cryptic Writings. And the story goes.

As far as the music is concerned Megadeth are not similar at all to Metallica.Far more complex with loads of "fast forward" rock'n'roll/hard rockin' riffs that Metallica din't have...........

True, Megadeth veer off the metallica train as soon as from the second record. It's like taking the riff-making mentality of Kill 'em All (pentatonic choppy riffs) and putting it on fast-forward and adding so many parts and delicious licks... much more than a clone of Metallica.

I disagree

I'd recommend the first Reanimator album too. Saw that DAM clip on one of the Doomsday News VHS copulations recently & found it deeply naff.

Even the song Ride the Lightning is total Mustane for me. I wish he covered it, even the vocals would be better with him. Just imagine the sneer "who made you god to saaayyyyy... I'll take your life from youu"
