I only heard maybe 4 passable songs on Gods of War (or as I dubbed it, Gods of Snore) and none of them were anything special. One of the most disappointing albums in the lst 5 years IMO. That, coupled with seeing them put on a terrible, terrible performance a few years ago has killed my interest in current Manowar.

On the other hand, i really liked Warriors of the World and many fans thought that one was lame :)

There's a few decent cuts on Warriors of the World (most notably Call to Arms), but most of it is filler and Gods of War stands heads and shoulders above it IMO.

Manowar, born to live forever moooore!

1. Battle Hymns
2. Sign Of The Hammer
3. Hail to England
4. Fighting The World
5. Into Glory Ride

It's the powerful rock 'n' roll energy of BH that does it for me.

Love 'm all four to death, but my vote goes to the immortal "Hail To England". The production is the best here giving that blooddripping, steelshattering analog sound. Especially the loud bass is a more then welcome addition here. And "Bridge Of Death" is one of my fav Manowar songs.

Into Glory Ride is the only exception to the rule, it has only real songs, and they all slay.
Shoot. I was just listening to H2E the other day on my iPod, but I had deleted Black Arrows so I completely forgot about it. However, it's still my favorite. And IGR has that terrible intro anyway ("She's only 16!")

I'm inclined to agree with the posters who reckon that every Manowar album has a little filler on it.
And yes, the intro to "Warlord" is indeed toe curlingly bad, and i'm not really a fan of the song itself, but every other second of the "Into Glory..." album is awesome.
Hmm, this is tough, "Sign" has "All Men...", "The Oath", "Animals" & "Mountains" which are some of my favourite Manowar songs.
"Battle Hymns", has some corkers on it too, but it's also got "William's Tale", which is gash.
"Kill With Power! Die!! Die!!", hmm yes, "Hail To England" is great too, my brain hurts from all this thinking.
I think i'll have to give it to "...Glory...", it was my first Manowar, and it reminds me of this gorgeous girl who i got lucky with around the same time.
All together now,

Seems like Sign of the Hammer and Into Glory Ride gets most votes here. I'm not really surprised though. Both are awsome. I prefer Sign of the Hammer slightly because as I said there's plenty of pace changes and unlike IGR it lets me breath after massive epic songs. You know.. they didn't put Gyana right after Mountains.

Into Glory Ride is actually my least favourite "classic" era album. Although it doesn't have any standout shit tracks like the others (mostly the instrumental tracks) it's consistently on a lower level. The songs are darker granted but nowhere near as many hooks just an album full of blander monotonous tracks.

I can totally understand why people would like it more though with it's almost at times doomy sound. But for me I like my Manowar a little bit more upbeat. Though not as upbeat and bubbly as the horrible track "Manowar" which is the only other song on the debut I dislike.

I'm now tempted to say I like Battle Hymns the most, the first four songs I adore such great early heavy metal and so different from the more epic styled sounds that would later land on Manowar albums (not that I have a problem with these).

Well, there's no charge for the haircut
and the bullets come free
My Uncle Sam sent a letter, said:
He's got a mission for me
Now I'm a ranger, not a stranger
And I live in SaigoOOON!
We've got a team of special forces
And we deliver napaaAAALM!

But if they tell you that I've lost my mind
Baby it's not gone just a little hard to find
By the time this letter gets home
I'd be gone, GONE, yeah gone
And if they tell you that I'm M.I.A.
Think a little less about me each day
'Cause if I ever get back
I'll be SHELL SHOOOOOCKED!

Hail to England, with Into Glory Ride close behind. I absolutely worship Kill With Power, as ridiculously sped-up as it sounds.

Kill With Power is easily one of the best Manowar songs.

I wonder how many other people voted for their first? My first was Kings of Metal, and it was my favorite up until I got Hail to England a few years ago. I still am quite attached to KoM though.
