The only thing I've ever liked about Anthrax was Mort Drucker's contribution!

How 'bout Powermad? I haven't actually heard the album, but I read a lot of comments saying it was great power/thrash? Is that true?
Oh, and I like the whole Belladona era.

Thats Greg from H.A.T.E.'s new band (H.A.T.E. had that song on Distant Thunder). HATE and Shatter Messiah both came out with albums recently, if you want to check them out. Listen to "The Assassin" from H.A.T.E.'s new album. AWESOME stuff...

I'd say they're more Power/Thrash than a lot of bands mentioned in this thread especially the first EP.

Which bands do you think are not Power/Thrash?

I don't really like being the genre nerd
More Speed Metal (This is of course my opinion, I don't really want to argue):
Bloodlust
Tension
Powerlord
Helstar
Agent Steel
More plain Power:
Lizzy Borden (before becoming commercial)
Wild Dogs
Forbidden more pure thrash.
Anyway I can see why all of this stuff appeals to the same mind. I think the main connection between all these bands is the vocal style.

Nightlock is right, for some of the bands the term power/thrash is just too much.
For example, Lizzy Borden and Tension are not power/thrash by any stretch for me.
I'm also having a hard time putting Wild Dogs and Sanctuary in that category. Especially Wild Dogs! Sanctuary may have some thrash hints, but they are not that many, really.
I can see the 'thrash' in Forbidden, but i can't see the 'power'...
Anyway, it's somehow related to how people connect each genre to their minds, some cases of bands/albums can be really confusing- i've heard people saying that the 1st Overkill is pure thrash, others have told me that it's power metal etc. etc.

It's all (well most) US Metal and they have moments/atmosphere that transcends genre.
I'll also add:
Toxik - World Circus
Iced Earth - First two albums
Though of course these three albums would be known by all members here, I think they deserve mentioning anyway.

Hey,isn't power/thrash just thrash metal with a singer that actually SINGS? Hihihihi...

Exactly!
To me it's the overall sound. All the bands I mentioned (& people have been mentioning) have a particular sound which for me is very unique & have both elements of power (vocals, lyrics) & thrash (drums & guitars)
Yes Lizzy Borden is by no means thrash, or power (in a Rhapsody way) but they have THAT typical classic US sound that many of the US THRASH/POWER bands have, and fans of RITUAL or MYSTIK would also be LB fans I would presume...
