Razor - The Marshall Arts (well as you all know there is this voice singing something like this: "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggghhhhh cough, cough..." so it may not count as a strict instrumental. Truly great stuff though and a perfect way to begin Stace McLaren's last (or latest - I hope) effort with Razor.

As for others I like Stormwitch's Dorian Gray, Angel Witch's Doctor Phibes, Judas Priest's Prelude - a really nice build-up to Tyrant just as The Hellion is to Electric Eye - and Celtic Frost's Oriental Masquerade...

And Ides of March is better arranged and preformed than Thunderburst which even had lyrics. Which makes me think of Path of the Psycho by Infernal Majesty - I've always wondered how it got written (the lyric) as it has two writers involved. Just to freshen your memory:

Infernal Majesty - Path Of The Psycho
[Music:Psychopath]
[Lyrics:Psychopath & Nemes]

Satan.....[4x]
Lead us into hell.
Ah ah Ah ah Ah ah [4x]

Lot of thinking, writing and rewriting there. :D

Sorry for going off-topic.

Nice topic! So much mention of Transylvania, so little of Ides of March!

Anyway... with out too much thought...

Coroner - Arc-Lite
King Diamond - Something Weird
Memento Mori - Forbidden Dreams
Living Death - Labyrinth

and from the margins:
Impaled Nazarene - intro on Suomi Finland Perkele
In Flames - Whoracle (technically not instrumental or metal)
Helloween - intro to Better Than Raw (barely metal)

...and lots of Hawkwind.

"Cauterization" by Dark Angel gets my vote as well... Relentlessly heavy, totally addictive.

NUCLEAR ASSAULT's "Game Over" cannot go unmentioned! In fact I think I need to put on "The Plague" for the first time in years...
