If you want the perfect sound for thrash metal then you should go with NECRONOMICON early sound or DESTRUCTION's Eternal Devastation(you know that sound which resembles to chainsaw)

I was lacking any descriptive references as I quoted Eternal Devastation earlier - but "chainsaw" is one that fits. I don't have a fetish for sound in general but always regarded the guitars on that album absolutely unique-sounding.. never heard the re-recordings they made of the old stuff but doubt seriously those could sound any greater than back then.

Great you love that Destruction sound. The Necronomicon sound is the same unique chainsaw sound.
Actually Destruction and Necronomicon(from the same city-year bands) are the only ones i have heard with this characteristical sound.Anyone knows more bands with that sound?

yeah, should really check out NECRONOMICON soon. Still unexplored territories in my collection.. are the first three on vinyl available sometimes? didn't stumble across them too often and much stuff from that era (eg HOLY MOSES, DARKNESS or PROTECTOR) mostly go for too much $$ as being not that rare..

Buy all three NECRONOMICON releases(Especially first two).These three albums have been rereleased on CD last year from BattleCry records so they are not so rare.
Sovdat had them for sale with low price but Ion Britton grabbed them.

Bought the rereleases and advice them to every teutonic thrash fan. Yeah, great guitar sound. They were always compared to destrucion at the time, so it's logical when thinking on Destruction guitar sound to think on Necronomicon as well.

have seen those re-issues frequently and cheap, maybe I should go for them - even as me vinyl-preferrist would need to hunt down the vinyls as well and later on replace the cds (and I'm pretty tired of that..)
They had somer newer albums as well as I remember correctly, but those should definitely be second-rank as mostly..

The 3 NECRONOMICON releases are definately a must for every german Thrash fan. They're are absolutely fantastic, it's a pity that this band didn't have all the success it deserved !

I think it's normal that Necronomicon were never very popular. Although I worship their first album (it's in my pictures in the 'top items' section), the sound is too harsh and the playing is to chaotic sometimes. I think that's why they were never picked up by the metal mainstream.
