Cynic and Cynic

Post by Tim Batkin »

Well there is always Cynic UK nwobhm, and Cynic Florida Death Thrash metal. Actually had a guy pm me on Youtube telling me the "real" Cynic had made an album called Focus in 1993, and they were still around - "go check it out."
Told him we made Suicide in 1983, had been a band since the late Seventies, we were still around, and that we, (Cynic uk) had met Paul Masvidal and Sean Rienert in London when they were Aeon Spoke.
Best wishes,
Tim

There is only one "real" Cynic. 8)

There are also (at least) two Overdrive's. The NWOBHM one and the Swedish. Both early '80s Heavy Metal bands and two Buffalo's: NWOBHM and '70s Australian Heavy Rock.

And the 3 NWOBHM Warrior's. All great bands.

Hi Black Axe - I hope you mean us! Seriously, I know Cynic Florida have a huge following, but their music is quite different to nwobhm - and I see more and more people quoting Cynic US, as one of the original nwobhm, getting all confused with us.

Best wishes,

Tim

People who are into metal and/or either of the two bands(and not just into 'hot' bands) will know the difference. It's quite similair to people thinking songs like "Blitzkrieg and "Am I Evil" are Metallica originals.

I know of three bands named Legend: two from the UK and one from the US. I actually prefer the one from Kent that released the Hideaway single.

Yeah, I figured most people wouldn't share my opinion on that one. I like From the Fjords, but I don't think it's a mindblowing masterpiece like everyone else does. The other UK Legend doesn't really do anything for me.

LAVINA (DEN)
LAVINA (BUL)

Never heard Danish band, but the Bulgarian (with members of ex-ICEBERG) is quite enjoyable Saxon clone

There are 11 bands called HOLOCAUST
I haven't heard any of them besides the Holocaust from the U.K.
Most of them look like shitty black metal bands..but the Polish black metal Holocaust looks kind of interesting

the ones that come to my mind are two US Coven(s). I prefer the epic one over the thrash one.

There were also Suffocation from Spain.

There were at least three bands with name Sinister: Dutch, Danish and possibly one from earlier era of Metal (UK?).

(at least) Two Confessors: one from New Zealand, the other from USA.

Fester: one from USA, reportedly one from Canaduh and one from Norway. Probably they were even more.
I am ... the One you warned me of
