well its seems that you are the exceptions that confirm the rule that says: people are more interested into buying a cd release than a vinyl one. i am having a hard time selling my vinyls while the cds sell faster. there is a growing interest on cds and a declining one on vinyl so i focus on the cd. increasing the retail price on a vinyl will only slow down the sales and since we are a very small label that tries to make money from the lps in order to release the cds its a major setback for us. i hope you understand the position we are in.

All I can say is I buy vinyl to cd in a 10: 1 ratio anymore.
In the case of vinyl you have to offer something not on a cd. Either make a record with no cd, or better yet make it vinyl only bonus tracks, but this is of course my opinion. But of course it is your label so you get to make all the decisions.
I'm not sure what I'll do in this case since the vinyl missing 20 minutes makes it very incomplete release. Mores the pity at that. Maybe include a free cd with all lps since cds are dirt cheap to manufacture? who knows.
I notice rare record sales are not in the decline. So maybe no one has money left over to buy the nice new release, instead they spent $500 on a old lp

you are so right. that's a pity. for example it took me almost a year to sell the 500 copies of a (lp ONLY) release like Tyrant which (allow me to say this) i consider as one of the best in the whole reissue business. and i got comments that 15 euros was too much... so new releases on vinyl is near dead for me. i am very disappointed and i only do vinyl because i started this business having vinyl on my mind... but you can't support a label only on vinyl anymore...doomedplanet wrote: I notice rare record sales are not in the decline. Anyone who thinks 15 euro is to much for such a GODLIKE record is a retard, sorry to say it.

Honestly, I can't fucking understand that...it doesn't make any sense to me....does this attitude supports the band??? I don't think so...And as said previously, paying great amounts for old records is on anyone's concern..BUT I consider great obligation for someome who respects himself to buy the official new releases too...will someone spend 500$ for a record, and he won't have 15-20$ to buy the new release??The Sentinel wrote:Anyone who thinks 15 euro is to much for such a GODLIKE record is a retard, sorry to say it.LuciferSteele wrote:like Tyrant which (allow me to say this) i consider as one of the best in the whole reissue business. and i got comments that 15 euros was too much...

Unfortunately yes this is very true, I know some folks like this. Almost (but not always) paying attention to the rare releases. So of course when the new release is gone they scramble to find a copy. Doesn't help tiny distros that shut down because they just trying to make their money back and don't succeed.

...so, allow me to say that these"people" are not Metalheads, but collectors..there's a huge difference...My logic is" You pay lots of money for a record because YOU LIKE THE BAND ABOVE ALL, so if in the future there will be an OFFICIAL re-release or sth you WILL buy this item for the SAKE of your favourite band"....am I wrong? And I support this idea: Buy more than one copy of the new releases, but who cares for vinyl anymore?doomedplanet wrote:Unfortunately yes this is very true, I know some folks like this. The Tyrant LP is the only vinyl I own (besides the 7" that came with the last issue of Snakepit). I would've bought a CD version instead if you'd released one, though.LuciferSteele wrote:you are so right. that's a pity. for example it took me almost a year to sell the 500 copies of a (lp ONLY) release like Tyrant which (allow me to say this) i consider as one of the best in the whole reissue business. and i got comments that 15 euros was too much... so new releases on vinyl is near dead for me. i am very disappointed and i only do vinyl because i started this business having vinyl on my mind... but you can't support a label only on vinyl anymore...doomedplanet wrote: I notice rare record sales are not in the decline.
