Oh for Satan's sake, Lachman is noting but a buttfucked shite vocalist compared to Geoff Tate.

Hey...you, little, dirty, profane, soul, I wish you'll fall in love with an emo, cross-eyed hybrid, and a woodworm will devour ALL of your Metal vinyls...

His emo lover will destroy those vinyls. Emo's need to be able to see their own misery in the reflection of silver discs. When their eyes meet with true black vinyl, their hearts will explode.

But what the hell is wrong with Geoff Tate?

Well, honestly its not a fair comparsion, all the tracks on GARGOYLE are way superior of everything QREICH has ever written, so it was easy for Tim Lachman to shine as he does.
G.Tate never really had a chance...

Gargoyle were an okay US power metal band, with a few very good songs. Queensryche were an okay US power metal band with a few very good songs, initially. Then they became a great progressive metal band with a few very very good songs.

Both bands have singers of note, however Geoff Tate happens to be in the worldwide top 5 of rock and metal singers. His voice is like the thunder of god. Tim from Gargoyle is like John Arch lite, somewhere between Tate and Arch actually, crystalline voice, hits every note, okay emotionally I guess, but even Benito from Heir Apparent destroys him.

Speaking of Heir Apparent, 'Graceful Inheritance' destroys both Gargoyle and Queensryche as far as their US power records go. But that doesn't mean then vocalist Paul Davidson is better than either Tim or Geoff.

Well, the s/t album of Gargoyle slays from start to finish. A US metal milestone. Timeless.

And Steve Benito slays both Tate and Lachman.

See now, Benito vs Tate is a bout I can understand, they're the same weight class. I say Tate wins because of a) personality (Benito was a jackass) b) consistency (Tate made many albums that are great. His vocals are actually never anything less than great) c) he wrote his own lyrics, occasionally really great stuff.

Lachman > Benito > Tate

I really tried to like the much praised "Operation: Mindcrime", but it looks like I am not able to grasp the greatness of it, it always just bores me :(
The Warning + first MLP are good enough, but not outstanding or whatever.

Operation Mindcrime is not my favourite Queensryche at any case. Great catchy songs, but the concept falls really flat mid-way. My top 5 goes

1.Promised Land
2.Rage for Order
3.Warning + MLP
4.Operation Mindcrime
5.Empire

RAGE FOR ORDER I didn't like when I heard it years ago, PROMISED LAND and EMPIRE I never even gave a try, shame on me.

On a OT side-note:
I recently heard the GARGOYLE album with vocals done by Matt McCourt, this interesting CD release was made from US-Metal Records in 2006 under the name WILD DOGS - RING OF BLOOD.
It features rough versions of the GARGOYLE tracks and a cover of SAILS OF CHARON all with vocals done by Matt McCourt.
I like the songs a lot, so it is very interesting to hear those other versions. But in the same time it show just how great Tim Lachman really is, as the "original" versions sound better by miles.
