I have a bad habit of saluting just about everyone everywhere with the \,,/
It's fucking cliché, overused and frankly run completely into the ground but it has become a reflex through the years and now I can't stop. Fucking embarrasing

Mine is pretty outstanding. I have a deformation acquired from instrument playing and I think it rules. I use it seldom though. You might check it when we meet next year.

I have always thought that we, as metalheads have the obligation to teach the younger metallers those bands they wont get easily. Thats why publish my fanzines, have websites and the blog. It is up to everyone the continue into the sorrowful way of Metal, or keep them in the easy way of commercialism.
The problem is they won't listen, because they don't believe you. Most of these younger fans will eventually quit listening to it and a couple of them (approx. 5%) will keep seeking for better music and finally they will discover real music for themselves.

Exactry!!! Major majority of them are posers, which will wear flower shirts and sandals next summer. Or baseball caps and jeans with opening on the back. As it is, as it was. I think less than 5% of my generation (from initial stage) is still "active".

Ok, I don't wanna be "selfish" or sth, but, speaking personally now, EVERY time I tried to "educate", or to "draw"into obscure Metal Knowledge some outsiders, repeats the same old God-damn story: They come at first full of enthusiasm and curiosity, and they ask you to write for them some tapes or burn some cdrs(nowadays), and when you decide to do so, cause you REALLY want to help them, they "accept"your offer, listen to the tapes/cdrs 2-3 times, and then re-write them with sth else they like(talkin' bout the tapes now), or throw 'em in the garbage-can...and when you start talking bout bands and Metallic history, or whatever, they change subject, and they ask you bout the faking weather...I'm sick and tired of that...case is closed for me._

Well I don't know, even if 5% of these people are 'saved' from bad metal, that's worth it for me. Also I say I listen to Heavy Metal readily in order to restore the good name to what that is. They go 'oh, like Slipknot?' and then I can go 'no, like Fates Warning, like Cirith Ungol, like Candlemass'. They might never understand they difference, perhaps, but at least I'm setting the record straight for its own sake.

Emm..allow me please, but, for me there's not "good" and"bad" Metal...THERE'S ONLY METAL! Someone must have the Steel in his Blood to understand, and one is born with that, it's not sth that can be "obtained", if you know what I mean...

I don't think it has anything to do with blood, no, sorry. I think it has to do with keeping in touch with your childish naivety and sense of wonderment, an ethical guide far more potent than the one inherited from the normality and religious indoctorination to follow. A lust for existence, life as an endless dream, that is Heavy Metal for me, not 'steel in the veins'. Someone can forget this connection with his inner child, but someone may yet remember it again. Heavy Metal for me is not an exclusive elite 'for the gifted' club. Anyone gets a fair chance to awaken the guardian inside

well, actually, we are moving off topic now, but I think it's worth saying it...Each one perceives Metal in different ways, but, after all, is the Power that keeps us going..it comes from inside, and not from outside experiences imo(eventhough they build up the final result), It's more than an instict and Belief, it's a Way of Life...if someone can't Feel this Power with every fibre of his Being, he won't be able to understand. Collecting memories and experiences, and wonder through life, helps you in a way to have knowledge...but knowledge is Power, when you don't know how to control it, you fall itno oblivion...you need some strong Weapon to win this Battle...and THIS Weapon is hidden inside you...some have Strength to find it, some others fade away living their own "dreams"...

Am I the only one who sees the above statement as totally futile?
I don't care if someone chooses not to listen to a reccommendation or not. A united metal brotherhood of adoring underground gems isn't going to save the scene, make metal popular or caress my ego.

I am years and years beyond the point of caring
In my younger years, when I was a very active metal missionary who
always had a mixed tape with him to convince the unbelievers, I saw this like Helm. But not anymore now. May they all forever walk in darkness

Every time someone is touched by good metal under my recommendation, I get a karmic return. It has nothing to do with saving any 'scene' (I couldn't care less about. Good metal always will exist and survive, bereft of 'scenes') it has to do with doing good things for other people.
I am under the impression that The Corroseum exists mostly for similar reasons.

Hmm, if someone would try to convince me about, lets say, how great Nu Metal is, I wouldnt send him good karma in return, I'll rather introduce him to my battle-axe

No, its more a place to meet already like-minded ppl., not draw the attention of the ones who dont care for "our" kind of metal and convince them.
