English and French sound best to my ears. And good Hungarian, Russian, Polish, Japanese vocals are much enjoyed.

Those struggling with English vocals I do not like at all. In this case like the vocalist to sing in his native tongue!

I like the accents of Scandinavians singing in English... Heavy Load, Zone Zero etc But dislike those of say Greeks... Raging Storm, Sarissa

I can understand this. But to me Greek/Italian/German accent singing in English makes them ++ to my ears.It gives them more honesty simply because of their accent. What they should do if they can't sing like Londoners

Oddly enough most British bands don't sing with their regional accent.

I also like English with a heavy Spanish accent, like Exodo for instance

Forgot to admit actually that french sounded quite amazing at some Prog releases of 70's. Have to check how it would sound in Metal releases. Which items can you recommend me?

I'm going with Swedish. I think it sounds pretty awesome and full of power most of the time. I wish Finnish was on here. Finnish is a really interesting and unique sounding language to me.There aren't too many metal bands that I like who sing in Finnish but I love the way it sounds when sung..take the Sarcofagus "Motorbirds" LP or Horna,Perisynti or the Stud single.

I refuse to vote because there's no Italian in the list and you can't choose more than one favourite! Anyway my favs are English, Japanese, Swedish, Czech and Italian.

I've had problems with many Finnish vocalists and their accent. But the ones I like, like the ones in Sarcofagus and Stud are really great. I think more bands should sing in Finnish but then again we have lots of modern "metal" bands raping our native language nowadays.

Generally, I'd say it depends on execution. I've heard great and terrible results from all languages. I'll vote Swedish right now though, since I'm going to put on Helvetets Port... (And I actually understand Swedish)

Too true. There are quite a few great progressive albums with French vocals. Ange and Malicorne were amazing at their best. Come to think of it, the tracks where Northwinds sing in French are great as well. Perhaps I should have voted for French?

native english, or english with an accent that isn't too distracting because that's what i understand.

a lot of languages sound good, though.

I voted Russian.

Czech and Bulgarian a close second and third respectively.

It depends on the band and style of course.

If English is best suited then it would sound ridiculous to sing in another language.

What if the band doesn't speak English at all?

Then they can sing in their natural language, as I said, it depends on what is best suited but my favourite languages are the ones listed.
