BUSTED! I know it's you, Fucking Åmål and how DARE you hi-jack poor Erlking's account?!

What! Their Victim Of Chains album is KILLER and the ones that came after are good at least. How can you not love songs like Fly Like An Eagle, Son Of The Freeway, The Hour, I Love The Night, The Tiger, Masters Of The Earth or Creating A Monster for example. But I'm not as insane as Åmål and tell you NOISEHUNTER or VECTOM is creme de la creme of HM :D

Haven't heard GRAVESTONE's first two albums though.

:(

The German scene is my second favorite and I love both of those bands...

Not to the same extent as amal, but damn, what a great scene.

I'm actually listening to Surgeon (Ger) right now.

Not bad at all, I think this is better than most of the teutonic metal bands like Veto, Rage or High Tension.

You can't even talk about Rage or High Tension in the same line as the magnificent VETO!!

sorry I have to veto that :D

I find them a bit amateurish, at least their singer.

I must ask, have you heard their carthago album?

true, Carthago is better, I think I liked the song "Unknown Soldier" a bit.

Haven't heard it for a long time, to be honest. Maybe I should give them a second chance. Besides they were from my hometown Augsburg, I wonder what those guys are doing today.

It seems a lot people bundle all those old German bands together and just put a big red "Mediocre!" stamp on them (not necessarily on this forum, but generally when you talk to 80's Metal fans IRL) which is kinda sad. In my ears there's huge divide in quality between Masters like ATTACK, METAL SWORD, NINJA, VETO (esp "Carthago"), INVADER etc, and truly mediocre stuff like SAMAIN, FACT, GRAVESTONE, NO TROUBLE etc..

Yeah it's a sad thing that people miss out such bands as ATTACK. They're one of the best things I've discovered through this forum and have grown a very important and dear band to me. Seven Years In The Past is on par with the best stuff from germany imo.

Have your heard "Return Of The Evil" and "Destinies Of War"? Don't think they were uploaded in the ATTACK-thread.. In any case they're must-buys if you come across them - which should be relatively easy I'd say.

This reminded me of a recent addition to the collection that should be up yer alley. Now ripping - stay tuned 8)

Yes I have and they're both great too. Return Of The Evil was the first one I heard from ATTACK actually. That's one of the reasons why I love this band. They weren't just the typical "one album wonder" but made several quality records. Just don't know what to think about their debut :P

Heh, to each his own. No one can't talk about High Tension and Veto in the same line as RAGE.

Rage's Trapped! is one of the best German metal albums ever.

Well Rage is like Armoured Saint to me. Both don't do anything fundementally wrong but still fail to grab me thus making them very boring to listen to. How ever their debut album Prayers Of Steel under the name Avenger is a near-masterpiece for me.
