I don't get this 70's rock thing either. Non-metal for metallers or something.
I do know one thing: next time Iron pegasus releases a single that I don't like, I'm buying everything from that band. I remember him having 20 copies of that first The devil's blood 7" at a show, and last year the same with Ghost. Both bands suck, both bands sell for shamefull amounts on ebay.

The 70s rock retro thing seems, at least locally, to have a lot to do with the hipster scene. I don't mind The Devil's Blood; still a bit gimmicky but not as cheesy as GHOST, and the music is pretty good IMO. Ghost is just silly- "oooo, we're scary 'cause we use anti-Christian imagry- oooooo!!". That might have gotten my interest if I was still 14 years old. They seem more worried about their make-up/costume than writing a song that's any good.

It is crazy how much some of these relatively new releases start selling for right away. Agalloch albums seem to start at $100, Ghost and Devils Blood sell for a lot, couple of the BBTAD LPs already sell for $50-80. Wacky.

I will agree that the prices that single fetches are insane. I know all collectors are crazy but I will never understand the concept behind these "instant collectables".

From a business/investment standpoint, it's hard to see much potential for such items to increase or maintain their value in the future. Such 'instant collectibles' tend to lose their value relatively quickly- Beanie Babies being the perfect example. For a year or two people were throwing money at those things, then suddenly you couldn't give them away. Gimmicky bands tend to burn out fast (coughcoughWitchery) or their popularity quickly wanes and they're supported by a smaller fan base in the future (coughcoughGwar). In either case, there will be fewer people willing to pay big bucks for their collectibles down the road.

Another problem with 'instant collectibles' is that, even if some demand persists, the Supply often remains too high to support the inflated prices. For example: many vintage metal LPs and CDs sell for high prices now b/c many copies were damaged, destroyed, or lost over the years. But ZERO copies of a GHOST Die Hard Edition get trashed due to poor sales. ZERO copies of Mastodon on colored vinyl land in the cut-out bin. And ZERO copies of an Agalloch Wooden Box Set are gonna get thrown out or beat up. Every copy of such items winds up in collectors' hands right away, so they're all cared for and saved in new/Unplayed condition. So 20 years from now there will be no problem finding a copy in NM condition- they'll ALL still be in NM condition!

The only way these things can continue to climb in value is if the bands either sell out and acquire a much larger fan base (e.g., Metallica) or they find a way to maintain their popularity over the long haul. Maybe Agalloch can do that, but GHOST reeks of 'flavor of the month' to me.

Of course you don't have to treat records as investments. Still, I'd hate to pay $500 for an album today only to see the price drop to $50 within a few years once the band has fizzled and everyone moves on to the next hyped act.

Sorry for off topic but now some words on a bit different subject.The Last few months I noticed a lot of auctions for SALEM'S WYCH LP (There's an auction almost every week of this LP) and price is still goes +200 USD.I mean is there so many people/collectors who still want to own this record? This is a bit strange. Even now there's 3 copies of this record on ebay.

Is he trying to sell a CDR of the LP?

I guess folks do not know they pressed 1500 copies of this LP and still had most of them in the late 90's. I was offered 100 copies of this LP about 10 years ago and turned it down. It looks like they ended up at Atomin Records, CA

At this quantity and this supply, price should be 30-50$...
But still it goes pass the 200$ limit

I would say that's pretty accurate. Minus the "Metal" part.

I don't think that there are that many Salem's Wych left now. 7 or 8 years ago (or mayge a bit more, i don't remember) Mark Gast had around 30 copies left, so most of them must have sold by now. I also remember that J.P. got many copies from him before that. Anyway it's price should be around $100 max.
