I decided to take the risk based on the fact that I love his previous movies, and it paid off - I loved it. I feel the same way about Muskelrock. I've enjoyed every year I've been and each line-up has been fantastic so I'm happy to take the risk this year.
This is not comparable, as you still know WHAT movie you are going to see.
Umm, yeah, the title and the director and that's it. Just like he knows he's going to Muskelrock which is known to have a great atmosphere & less-known 80s metal bands and some new ones playing there. The actual story of the movie and the line-up of the festival are unknown.

I understand that comparison, and it rests on the strength of that there is a prior experience to build a hopeful prediction upon, but it does NOT discredit the feeling of discomfort someone might have in regards to the validity of such "hope", so what is the point in trying to argue against people's fears when there is no absolute knowledge to combat it with.

Again, it's not comparable. When you go to the theatre you know what is playing. At muskelrock you do not so it's an invalid comparison.

This is not a tough concept.

It's a much better comparison than comparing a visit at Muskelrock to drinking at the local pub.

Its really a good comparison:
Plot of the movie is unknown and the name of the movie wont help you at all.

Name of the director and the fact you liked his previous movies => you go without knowing what you exactly get.

-------
Bands on the billing are unkown to you.

Having been to the festival and/or seen previous line ups give you an idea which kind of music is played there => you go without knowing what you exactly get.

Pretty easy. Thing is a lot of people like certain genres and chance is they might even like more than 1 or 2 bands in each of them, so if their fave isnt playing, another good one might be.

Anyways, gonna be great anyways. :D

^Hopeless, I tried already but apparently Avenger has the gift of all kinds of sights and knows what's going to happen in a movie he hasn't seen before, as well as a lack of seeing things from other people's perspectives.

C'mon, we all know Avenger will argue that black = white. Anything to distract him from living in his mothers basement.

Since that comparison is getting so much attention. The festival is a one-off, upcoming event, while a film at the cinema gets shown several times a day, and unless you are going to -the- first screening or living in complete isolation how are you going to avoid hearing or seeing any sort of opinion regarding it? There can be no sort of review of something that hasn't occurred yet. And even if you go into the experience with near zero knowledge, you're just paying like 10e to sit in a room for 2h. What's the obsession with these dumb comparisons anyway.

This isn't a matter of perspective. It's a matter of logic which you seem to be missing.

I haven't lived with my parents since I was 19. I already challenged you to a quality of life comparison and you disappeared. It's okay though. I understand that you have to validate yourself by making up bullshit statements on the internet because you don't actually have any valid argument to contribute.
