Awesome one!
Red Tears of Disgrace from the latest album is almost as good! Unfortunately the other ballad on the album is plain weak.

If that's a ballad then every heavy metal song in the world ever must be a ballad!

Yeah, it sounds like The Trooper, no doubt about it.

Come on! It's a typical metal ballad, only better than the rest ;)

The Mission starts like a ballad, but it gets heavy about a minute into the song. So no, it's definitely not a typical metal ballad.

It's not a delicate ballad like Silent Lucidity - that's for sure - but it's still a power ballad. It's deeply emotional, it's about love, it's slow to midpaced, the solo has "ballad" written all over it, and most importantly - has a typical ballad feel to it, especially in the bridge and chorus section.

Yeah, it's a typical metal ballad, like "Holy Diver" or "Hallowed be thy Name".

Well... I hear a significant difference between the ones you mentioned and The Mission, you obviously don't. Maybe let's just leave it that way.

This is a privilege owned mainly by "mainsteam" bands, they did it better in most cases, but if we could award a band for great ballads, one of the nominees would be Accept, with the outstanding(among others) "Can't Stand the Night",you can start crying out loud now...

A ballad isn't determined solely on lyrical content...

You aren't missing much then. Quite a weak point to end an otherwise outstanding album.

Badge "Something I've Lost"
Judas Priest "Prisoner Of Your Eyes"
Hell "Depths Of Despair"
Dragonfly "Spacebound"
Black Death "When Tears Run Red"
Cirith Ungol "Maybe That's Why" (Good Call!, They don't even need lyrics)
Dark Starr "Lovin' Strangers"
Santa "Sobrevivir"

and the one that kills me the most...

Scorpions "We'll Burn The Sky"

These are the songs I would play if I needed that extra "push" to pull the trigger!!!!!!! Or when I lose the love of my life....
