I haven't got time to really get into this discussion, but has anyone else here ordered anything directly from Skull Fist? Almost 7 weeks ago I did, and still nothing has arrived. Smells like a rip-off.

far better and more honest heavy metal than many of the bands mentioned in this thread. But they don't press 4 copies each time they release something, so I guess they don't belong in the category of true-and-kvlt-and-only-for-the- enlightened-ones

Ahh, Diego, now you caught me on the wrong foot, VOLTEX and your buddies from SPLIT HEAVEN are a class of it's own, the mad mexican conquistadores of steel or something, how 'bout that?

Haha, they probably sent it by boat. It usually takes 6-8 weeks!

I enjoy how this board takes pot-shots at Tales of Medusa at virtually every opportunity.

And I'm glad that virtually everyone understands that those kind of comments refer to them.

However, if you've read all the threads re those clowns, I personally have straightly and thoroughly stated my opinion a couple of hundreds of times about both their music and their attitude, I'm sure it's brutally frank for some people here, but that's it and I still stand by what I have said. The "This board takes pot-shots'' thing is not relevant when we are talking about Tales of Medusa here in this forum.

I think you misunderstood my intention in that post. I was being serious, I do enjoy that fact, I find it amusing, even though I enjoy the band. I probably have read the majority of comments regarding them on this forum, as well as plenty of passing remarks referencing them negatively, and I think it's kind of funny. I don't think I understand what you mean by it being not relevant though.

What are people's thoughts about Dark Forest? Personally, I can't get enough of their debut or (even more so) the 'Defender' ep. While staying true to 80s Metal, they've also got a unique edge, and an 'Englishness' about them that I as an Irishman shouldn't warm to. But I love them and really can't wait for their next full-length.

As far as other bands mentioned here go, I love some and couldn't give a shit about others. I think Enforcer's debut has a slight edge over 'Diamonds', but I'm addicted to both. In Solitude's album is very good, and would be great with a more spiteful vocal delivery.

It took a few listens for me to fully appreciate Helvetet's Port, but now I love the album.

I had really high hopes for Cauldron as I loved Goat Horn's 'Storming the Gates'. The ep was good and I've only heard bits of the full-length online after reading so many bad reports. Suffice to say I never bothered buying it. However, I spent a bit of time with them in Dublin a few years back and they're proper dedicated Metalheads. Because of this and the quality of the Goat Horn stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if they have a killer album in them.

The one I hold higher than any other though is Portrait. That debut stunned me from my first listen and I've got to love it more and more with time. Contrary to most people, I also like the new 7" a lot and can't wait to see what they can come up with next.

Regarding bands signing to bigger labels and what not, I really wouldn't waste my energy worrying about it. If the music is good enough, then who really gives a bollox?

Dark Forest are fucking epic. And I hate the overuse of that word but here it's justified. Saw them a few weeks in a tiny pub in London and was hooked, that album of their's just pulls you in and doesn't let go. I'm a massive power metal head, as well as loving heavy metal and everything else, totally unashamed so I'm kinda chuffed that there's a bit of geeky Turilli worship in there, but than again some moments of the new Enforcer remind me of early Strat.

Will Lowry-Scott from DF can fucking sing too, holy crap. Not so sure about the new Portrait singer. Per can carry it live but there's moments on 'The Murder Of All Things Righteous' 7" that justify the title - eek. I'm promised the new album is killer though. Wish Phillip Svennefelt would stop being a fucking hermit though.

Dark Forest are playing London soon if anyone can make it. That'll be The_Elite then - ha ha. Anyone else from London on here. Here's the Facebook link http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?ei ... 249&ref=ts

They're playing with Hekz, a totally young band that I saw once at a local show when they were about 16, and I was like, fuck this is what it must have been like hearing young bands at The Soundhouse, all sloppy gallopping riffs, split ends and youthful energy. I met their dad, a proper old rocker, so these young kids clearly grew up listening to Maiden and Saxon. They made me broody :)

Having so many threads about Tales of Medusa and with so many people having openly said their opinion about them, it's anything but 'pot-shots' IMO. I am sorry for being a bit blunt in my response, I obviously misunderstood your post as I thought you were implying something.
