Al Smith Group isn't good at all IMO, but the cover is cool. How's that Wicked Step? I've seen quite a few copies recently, all offered by the same seller.

It would be pretty hard to send that thing anywhere anyway, it's not a poster but a print on some sort of thick cardboard... Wish there were more things like that around here.
And I was thinking that he was refering to the Stratovarius album

I don't know if you know it but ASG was the other name of Alyn Syms Group, not Al Smith Group.

Yes I know ALYN SYMS GROUP (The had one 7" and one LP on BCMK Records) .I just shortened AL SMITH GROUP and it ended as it is.

I guess you didn't really want it? It sold for dirt cheap. I searched for a copy frantically a few years ago because I really like the single. Glad to have it at such a friendly price.

I've only seen 3 copies of WS. Not sure how many the seller found. Anyway, If you like 80's Texas metal you would want it. The A-side has a great guitar part in the middle but it is a melodic song otherwise. The B-side on the other hand is a barnstormer of a metal song. I would say these day a unknown Texas metal single like this from 1980 just doesn't turn up that often. Get one if it turns up again.

Haha, with that review I'll surely be outbid on all upcoming copies.

the seller said it better than I could in the listing:
"These guys were metal before metal was a thing in San Antonio. It's got that NWOBHM kind of feel to it, like maybe some Angelwitch meets Iron Maiden meets Moxy. It's where the 70's were saying goodbye and metal was creeping in to the scene, but the 70's were still hanging on in their sound.
This band may have been one of the first to start bringing the metal sound to the city, they just got lost in the shuffle and overshadowed by bands like Militia, SA Slayer, Metalis, etc. I have heard these guys were playing shows with bands like Heyoka and Metalis, so they seemed to have been straddling the fence between metal and hard progressive rock. I think you can hear that hybrid sound here on this 45. I can't say enough about this, it's got everything a collector wants - RARE as all hell, unique for the time sound and style, mystique, yeah, vibe - but mystery is a key here since NOTHING at all ever comes up on these guys when searching. It's a total lost relic but an important missing link between hard rock and metal for what was to become a recognized metal scene in San Antonio."
some hyperbola there but honest nonetheless.

Both great covers indeed. I need to follow that seller I've only picked up one cheapo from him so far but looks like a lot of interesting stuff for sale.
