When I listen to that album I hear the prototype for everything that went wrong with thrash metal in the '90s.

Ignorance still does it for me, definitely. Greg Hall just clobbers on that album.

I understand that, but personally I don't blame the bands who started a trend, but those who follow it, since that's what defines which is a trend or not.
In my opinion, Among The Living is a good album. Albums that sound like Among The Living don't.

I think you have AtL confused with Cowboys from Hell. Put the blame squarely on Panterrible for screwing up the thrash metal scene in the 90's.

:) That was a bit harsh because i do like their 80's albums, especially Power Metal, man that album smokes, and i enjoy parts of CfH but i loathe everything they did after that.

CFH is the first execution. And they didn't play thrash metal.

For the record: METAL VIRGINS - "Animal People" is not a metal album, it's punk rock played by limey trash who don't know better. As a punk album it's not that bad though..

It's got a dose of crust/thrash influence though. And it's a thrash metal release, that's for sure.

Okay CfH wasn't all out thrash metal but you gotta agree that it was the album that's singlehandedly responsible for injecting the groove sound into the 90's and current thrash metal scene.

More like taking all the groove from it. Yes, it's the first execution of the garbage all those other bands copied.
