Brilliant thread this! Really enjoyed reading it.

I remember one time contacting this guy who was selling his metal collection, all CDs unfortunately, no vinyl. All the same it was still 75 killer metal CDs for 50 euro, but the postage was going to be a killer, as it was cross-border from Republic to North of Ireland. Turns out by a pure fluke me and a few mates were going on a macho beer-fuelled camping holiday to County Sligo and so I said I'd meet him in the city centre.

On my way down, and another fluke, I spotted the big ginger head of Bane off this forum, and he pointed me out to the meeting place. While I was waiting on the guy, this extraordinarily aggressive punk chick came striding up to me, stuck her face right up into mine and roared "Wanna buy some punk CDs?!?!?!"

I took a few steps back, as although the lassie was tiny, she had a shaved head, tattoos all over her, including a giant "MEAT IS MURDER" over her neck and the side of her face, and she was outrageously aggressive! By the final fluke, the guy selling the CDs arrived, proper looking metalhead, and he had the big bag of CDs with him. The girl turns to him and says "Go on, sell him that metal shite and we'll go!!

What I was able to ascertain is the poor sheepish looking dude was going out with the punk and was being forced by her to sell his metal collection. The dude looked heartbroken! 75 killer CDs for 50 euro, I think I sold 13 of them and kept the rest. That lassie was nuts. Tiny aggressive ball of punk rage.

The tattoos were nuts. Even if she was to wear a Muslim niqab you'd still see those idiotic tattooed slogans.

great stories, keep this thread alive!

Here is one little story that is related with the Killer "Thriller" (Trend) CD, I got few days ago.
A year ago, I was forced to steal for the first time since my childhood. Forced because anything I wanted to buy from that local record shop, the owner looked through the internet at sites like gemm or musicstack and raised the price drastically. He reached the top when I wanted to buy the Vampyr and the first Ostrogoth MLP together for 25€. For the Vampyr LP he said "this one is even not listed on gemm. I want 50€ for this MEGA RARITY", while for the latter he reached the top of insolence saying "at the moment one seller sells it for 35€, another one for 40€, I sell it for 45€!". Of course I did not pick them. The next day I visited the shop again in order to steal the Killer "Thriller" CD I noticed one day before. He offered it for 5€, but he would again increase the price, if I wanted to buy it. When I got into my car, happy that he did not caught me, I`ve seen that I have stolen only the jewelcase because he stored the CDs separated in another room. I did not care at all, because I am not that much into this band. Anyways, 2 weeks ago I looked for the first time for this CD on Ebay, and guess what I see? "Killer - Thriller CD only - booklet got lost". The seller was not the record shop owner, but in the end I got it for 1€.

I have never looked for any info on this CD before, but at the moment I look at musicstack and see it is offered for 56€...I did not know that it is that rare, I picked it up for the cool Slough Fegish cover (different than LP version).

this small story has nothing to do with record hunting but I think it is cool, so I put it here.

My father told me a few times of the concerts he was attending in his life. Among others he told me also about his first concert, which has taken place in Rijeka (Croatia) in the 60s. In 65 he told me that his friends and him (my father was 14 at this time) did carry all the equipment of a band coming from England to the concert hall, in order to get a free entrance. He told me that it was a band called Rockin Vickers and that he never did hear from them before and after this gig. He was talking with the band about Jimmy Hendrix and such stories and remembers them mostly for having long hairs. My fathers said that nobody knew them, but everybody wanted to see them because they were from England. Anyways, some 5 years ago I realized that there must be surely some info on this band when a British band played in Yugoslavia. So I googled Rockin Vickers and saw that it was Lemmy`s first band and that they toured through Yugoslavia. I was shocked when I read this. 40 years after that gig I found out that my dad did talk to Lemmy, while he was 20 and while nobody knew about him.

Bumping this thread, we need more stories!

Here's a recent one of mine:

A few years back, me and two friends (one of them, Niclas, is registered here as Stormbringer) were about to go to Copenhagen to see Alien Force and Artillery. Naturally, we also wanted a second day of record digging in the Danish capital. I booked a (very) cheap hotel close to the venue and so the plan was to all meet up at the train to Copenhagen, unload our stuff at the hotel, go downtown and have some beers, see the concert, go back to the hotel, sleep, and hunt for records the entire next day, then take the train back to Sweden.

Ok, when we arrived at the hotel we found out it was more of a hostel, with tons of backpackers, students, immigrants and assorted shady characters running about. We had booked three beds in a twelve bed room (cheapest way possible), so we quickly tagged them as ours and locked away our stuff. I asked the clerk if there was any cerfiew, as we were coming back quite late at night. No problem at all, I was told, they were open 24/7.

Concerts went fine and we were getting back to the hotel at about 2 am. As we enter our room I immediately find a woman sleeping in my bed! And the only other empty beds belong to my mates. I wake her up, telling her she's sleeping in my bed and she looks at her watch and explains she was about to leave anyway. Damn clerk rented the same bed to two different people on the same night! He must have remembered we weren't getting back until 2, and that this woman wasn't staying longer than that anyway. She was probably arriving late at the hotel asking for a bed just for a few hours.

The next morning we have about 7 or 8 different record shops to go to, and we were on foot. This, and my friends' last train for the more northern parts of Sweden was leaving at about 3 pm left us with only about 30 minutes to every shop, walking included. So we get about our business clearing out stores, Niclas digs out a Kim Six 7'' but the owner checks the price online and so he has to pay full price for it. All in all a decent run, but nothing else. Time is running short and we only have one more store to go through, before heading to the train st

As soon as we walk through the door we know this is going to be good. No more neatly sorted vinyl in adeqauate storage containers, correctly priced and categorized alphabetically and after genre. Nope, were talking stacks of records piled up from floor to ceiling, under shelves filled with other records, all one big mess. Thousands upon thousands of records in a store the size of my bedroom. We start digging and I quickly pull a Witch Cross - Fit for Fight on Vision, Razor - Evil Invaders and a few other Roadrunner items, all very cheap. One of my mates dig out some really cool Slayer bootlegs, Niclas finds some old Swedish progg etc. But time is running out and there's a lot left to look through. Last thing I remember is my friend standing on a chair, and me holding him by his belt, so that he can reach out and grab a Savage Grace - Master of Disguise picture disc taped to the ceiling, and at the same time Niclas is shouting from the entrance "we're gonna miss the train!"

Went back there a few months later with some other friends and didn't find anything interesting at all.

Utrecht Record fair (around 10 years ago).

I just bought a few cheap records from an English dealer when i notice a record that i have not seen before. I pick it up and see that he put it upside down at the plastic protective sleeve. I look at it the right way and realize it was WIDOW!!!
The record did not have a price on it. I ask the dealer "how much for this one?" and he picks the record the wrong way and tries to spell the name.

His actual words were: "This is Modi..Mobi.. this is.. this is.. this is a piece of sh*t, you can have for free."
