The Black (Ita)

The Black from Italy. I've never heard this band. Are they recommendable and if yes which albums are worth picking up? Thanks in advance for the info.

I've traded Apocalypsis with DaN a couple of months back and I think it's interesting stuff, although I have to be in the mood for it. Mixture of Doom/Prog/Psych/... sung in Latin. Can only be an Italian band :)
Seems they're playing the Headbangers Open Air this year.

I like their occult "italian" side a lot. Some tracks are really ritualistic in a sense. Very interesting IMO.

The "Peccatis nostris + Capistrati Pugnator" CD is the only one I know, so I can only recommend you this one.

''Reliquarium'' MLP is quite good. Doomy feeling but not always slow. Main man Mario di Donato has involved in other bands too. You can check Requiem-quite similar to The Black.

For those who like real Doom Metal with this occult aspect should check The Black. I think The Black is the kind of band you would love if you like Paul Chain and early Death SS

One of those bands that should rule my world, but still...
I mean, they could be the most perfect eerie/Doom/obscure act around - beautiful artwork, esoteric lyrics, an overall aura of murky mysticism and Mario DiDonato is (FACT!) the creepiest, most evil looking character in rock music today. And then they ruin it almost completely w/ lackluster playing and below-par production. And image aside he isn't much of a singer either to be honest.

The UNREAL TERROR mlp is quite a gem in nwobhm-style, early Metal though.

By the way, has anyone listened to the 2nd Unreal Terror LP? It's called Hard Incursion. Is it as good as the MLP?

"Hard Incursion" is a major disappointment. Terrible, terrible production/mix which ruins what could have been a handful of decent songs. DiDonato had (fortunately?) jumped ship prior to this disaster.

THE BLACK are one of the most criminally underrated italian doom acts. There is something to like on every piece of vinyl and I don't consider the production to be bad, not the best nor the worst though.

I could trade my copy of the "Apocalypsis" LP if someone's interested.

As for THE BLACK, I think I'm more into some of the members' "side-project" (?) REQUIEM. Anyone into them? I've only got a "best-of" tape but would be great to get hold of their fullengths.

Yeah, REQUIEM are great (Lets put on the "Via Crucis" LP). This band is actually more underrated than THE BLACK.
