Liar (Ger)

Post by The Knell »

got the demo 1988 today, I dont know the rest of their disco, but some people were interested here
Very cool recording, US Metal sound with euro metal athmosphere (a slight hint of pirate era running wild) + well made, reserved keyboards which support the music/guitars than taking over.
very good production, capable musicians and some great moments/riffs. Nice catch all around I must say!!
Hope to digitalize it by a friend, will post it on poisonoise then

I've always avoided the LP because of the awful comic-book cover (a German plague?) but the description of that demo sounds intriguing. Who's heard both and can compare?

The LP is awesome, Deutsche mosh metal oscillating in power/speed territory, with tongue-in-cheek lyrics and dominating sharp keyboards. Since with the exception of one tune, the demo consist of songs which were included on the LP I expect it to be very cool too.

Anyone have that ROCK HARD flexi from 1989 with the song You've Learned Your Lesson?

Haha DaN, you read between the wrong lines again. The hidden message actually reads:

...AWESOME/.../power/speed metal/.../dominating and sharp...

Anyhow, here is a song, check it out if you care -> [H E R E]

P.S. it just struck me that this sounds amazingly like DEAD ON. I'll dig to find my DEAD ON cd and will upload a song for comparison a bit later.

I've never heard the demo, but have both albums. This was a quite unique band that played a very euro-esque style of Power/Thrash with keyboards, which sounds kind of odd but worked.

I'm looking forward to hearing the demo.

Tis true it didn't sound as close as I remembered, but still there's something.
A DEAD ON song added to the player for comparison.

The keys are not dominating, at least not on the demo. Theyre a great support to the guitars. It's really good.

After hearing the debut I have to say that the demo-versions of the tracks are much better. (again..). Rougher and more powerful. "Run For Me" is such a great song.
