Your mate: "Hey, it's Saturday tomorrow and all, wanna go out and grab a beer?"
You: "Hmm, maybe. What bands are playing the pub down at the corner tomorrow, is it Venom, Raven and Tygers of Pan Tang?"
Your mate: "No, I think that's next week. This week it's Persian Risk, Satan and ... uhm... what was it ... Blitzkrieg!"
You: "Yeah, might be worth it".

I've had similar 'visions' about livin' in Texas, Florida, Chicago, California etc in the mid 80s...I totally sympathize with you. I almost envy those who witnessed all those things back then.

Yeah it's too bad there's not an exciting and musically interesting uprise of heavy metal bands nowadays. There are some boring retro-bands + one or two really good new ones but not that wave of youthfull enthusiasm for heavy metal like when it was a new thing. I think that even the most mediocre or even kinda sucky 80s bands would've been cooler to see than most metal that gets published today.

None of you would have even considered listening to heavy metal in 1981 had you been around to do so. You would have considered HM modern shit for hipster kids and you would have preached the superiority of the glorious hammond organ of yesteryear and you would proudly have collected and polished precious 70's prog vinyl while ridiculing headbangers.

Well I would rather see three vectoms in a row than go to a killswitch engage concert.mordred wrote:Nah... the worst horror I could imagine is being forced to watch a Vectom concert. The Erlking wrote:I think that even the most mediocre or even kinda sucky 80s bands would've been cooler to see than most metal that gets published today.

I got to admit you have a point, but it's still a close call. The Erlking wrote:Well I would rather see three vectoms in a row than go to a killswitch engage concert.mordred wrote:Nah... the worst horror I could imagine is being forced to watch a Vectom concert. The Erlking wrote:I think that even the most mediocre or even kinda sucky 80s bands would've been cooler to see than most metal that gets published today.
