Oh, and I see Mortal Mutilation was named too. I liked the Dawn Of The Dead demo, but Katie King pretty much sucked ass.

There wasn't much in the '80S in Spain.. I recall receiving a demo back in 88 or so from a band called ESTEMA or something...that was about all in extreme Metal.

But those are recent bands. In current days I think Spain has the best Death Metal band which is Machetazo and probably the best album of the year which is Mundo Cripta.
Back to the old bands, Sepulcro seems interesting (early 90's though)

Indeed, but I had to respond to Peter's citing of them 'cos they kill!

Yes, Machetazo is a great band. Got a lot of 7"s from them and they all smoke. I like Proclamation also a lot.

i've been looking into the spanish/portuguese scene lately and there hasn't been too much thats impressed me...

i've liked feretrum, neuntoter and necrophiliac. was not really impressed by obscure, doomsday, spontaneous combustion or suffocation. i might have to give some of these further listens, but a lot of them sounded pretty generic

for portuguese stuff i liked some of the thormentor stuff, but was not feeling massacre at all

when it comes to iberia, france had a much more powerful scene imo
