I've sent a bunch of CDs to him over a month ago, I never got anything back from him, no questions, nothing, and now all of sudden I can see that paypal charged me for the money he sent to me because he claims that he never got those CDs at all. Of course he didn't pay for registered shipping and I didn't sent it registered, so it seems that my money and CDs are forever lost as I don't know if I can do anything here.

Anyone knows this guy or did anyone do some trades with him??! I don't trust 0,001% of the story he wrote on paypal dispute, at least he could've mail me first, and for some reason he also quit his ebay account ...

the worst thing is that my paypal account is completely fucked now, as my paypal balance used to be $0.00, and it's now -$xx..., and I don't even know if I can fix that as an Slovenian paypal user -!!

Russian Federation is kinda risky state.If you do not register package there's allmost 50 % that it will be stolen.I do not know this guy because do not have eBay account (My brother buys everything for me on eBay) but it seems that something wrong happened.He should know that lots of packages are stolen .We had the same situation back in 1990-1995 when there were fanzines,big trading in scene.

Also Its strange that he had Positive Feedback (last 12 months): 100%.

If you don't have any proof that you've send the CDs then you don't have any chance. Sorry , that sucks ballsac...being a seller on PayPal can be very risky, more than being a buyer

It's so easy to get your money back if the records aren't registered. One time I claimed that I haven't got a CD (which was true in this case) and I got my money back instantly, without any more explaination from my side needed. The other time the records were in a very bad shape (not "mint") and it was all a long and unpleasant mess of messages, explainations over months...in the end I got nothing then. Crap!

Both experiences were not that serious, but the latter was annoying, and your best bet to rip a seller off is to claim nothing arrvied to you (when it was not reigstered) .../ instead of telling the records are fucked over which leads to nothing in the end for you. poor system

If it would be a comfort to you, I think you would have been fucked out of your money even it you've sent the package registered. Paypal is notoriously bad towards sellers protection and would fuck you up unless you have solid proof (signed and postmarked postal return receipt, or trackable EMS/UPS/DHL number, along with payment receipts you have to fax to paypal).

In your case even this may not be enough coz you probably are not verified member anyway.

P.S. sending package via regular/unregistered mail to Russia is like playing russian roulette with a fully loaded gun

We have tried it alot, and almost always with more than 50% bad results, even to a P.O. Boxes which technically should eliminate the delivery postman factor and make it less riskier.

P.S.S. Timour Otmar doesnt really sounds like a Russian name to me.

At least he replied to my email:

I've tried many to contact sellers which don't ship goods, but there's always silence. There's no lost parcels for last year even they're no registered, so I hardly believe that parcel may lost. You can send me the scan from receipt , then I could wait some more till parcel will arrive.

Of course I can't sent the scan because I didn't send it registered and he never wrote a single word to me before (he paid for the CDs an august 2nd and they were sent a day or two after that ...) ..

Which city in Russia he lives in? Maybe if he lives in a small city where everyone know each-other so his postman does not steal, but in big cities the postal corruption is unbearable. You should consider yourself very lucky of being able to send 5 sucessful unregistred packages.

The other thing is, in Europe it only costs like 2-3 Euros to send registered, so you should ALWAYS include this into the shipping cost.

Here in USA is more complicated coz registration costs $11, and the packing restrictions are so rigid and severe it takes 30 minutes to prepare a registered package - totally not worth if you are a business trying to make money.

OK, and here's the conclusion of this story: After 2 and 1/2 after I've send the package I suddenly got it back, returned to my address! Probably the guy sent me the wrong address or something (retour - inconnu?) ...

I've already sent a mail to him explaining the whole thing ...

I'm glad you got the stuff back, I haven't been so lucky in the past.
As long as you can prove that you shipped the stuff paypal is supposed to side with you, but they don't usually. Paypal sucks and is a monopoly.
