PORTRAIT looking for new lead singer.

Post by DaN »

More shitty news:
www.myspace.com/portraitmetal wrote:"Portrait and vocalist Philip Svennefelt have parted ways, due to musical and personal differences. This means that the band is now looking for a lead singer. Interested parties are hereby urged to get in touch at portrait_metal@hotmail.com."
Any further info on this? Lindell?

Well, let's just say that the line-up that included Philip was a timebomb and something really had to be done. The bad thing is that we really have to find a replacement soon as we have some gigs to do in October/November. So, we first and foremost need someone to sing live with us in a couple of months, then we will try to find a permanent singer, if it doesn't work out perfectly with the soon-to-be(/if-there-will-be-one) live singer.

Crap. I just realized I never got to see PORTRAIT w/ "The Legendary Original Line-Up", i.e. at all. No bragging rights for DaNny BoY :(

A logical, momentary candidate would perhaps be Pelle from IN SOLITUDE, but I they might be busy with album-releasing-biz at the moment..

Ask King Diamond if he can fill in for those shows.

I managed to see the band's first gig at least... when they were all friends.
Anyway, let's be constructive now. :D There should be plenty of singers in Sweden, Denmark or even Norway or northern Germany who have become tired of their current bands.

Shit! I just got this first album and immediately knew this is the one of the best shit ever! BUT the thing is that now Portrait have a possibility to get rid of the image of "Mercyful King" out of their shoulder. Because the music itself is fucking amazing! And thinking that in Sweden there is many bad ass singers that could do some great work with this. Dont surreneder!!!

I think this is a great opportunity for the band. I was never totally comfortable with the vocals, but everything else is in place. Hopefully they can get someone good, because this band is one of those that proves it's still possible to make great metal albums in the 21st century.

It's agreed now that Philip will do the shows with us, then we'll see.
Feels good that there are no worries about those gigs anymore at least...
