DIMMU BORGIR is a stoopid name!

I guess it's normal in Norwegian? But it's not really a scary sounding name for a scary black metal band, is it?

I remember when For All Tid first came out when I was doing distro & trying to pronounce it & sell it to customers was very hard. I had to spell it out everytime.

Does it mean 'dark path' or something along those lines???

On the other hand ULVER is a cool name, and meaning...

Not that I'm an expert on the norwegian tounge... but swedish is pretty similar so:

For All Tid = For All Time/Forever

Ulver = Wolves (thus practically the same name as the swedish eighties "cult" act called Vargarna (= the Wolves/Ulverne)

edit: embarrassing spelling mistake

Dimmu Borgir is actually a place on Iceland. I'd translate it "Mist Keep" or something like that. In modern Norwegian it would be "Tåkeborg" or something similar.

"Ulver" sounds pretty cool even in Norwegian. It literally means "Wolves" so it's a good one for fans of the English football team. The music is pretty much uninteresting though (IMO). '

"Trollmann av Ildtoppenberg" is a band, right? Sound totally silly in Norwegian and to top it off, they've taken it from an 80s Fighting Fantasy gaming book (original title in English: "The Warlock of Firetop mountain")
I know I ain't doing much,
doing nothing means a lot to me.

I never understand why you'd name your band Custard.

Ulver's music isn't uninteresting in my opinion.

Discussion about Dimmu Borgir reminds me about MUSTIS, their keyboard player.

Mustis is a nickname for Mustanaamio and Mustanaamio is Phantom in finnish..

Little bit of same look actually?
