SALEM WITCHCRAFT

Post by Rock Beast »

Just found this American band SALEM WITCHCRAFT on metal archives and it sounds VERY interesting. "Genre(s) Epic Traditional Heavy Metal/70s Hard Rock". They released a single in 1980 called "witchcraft". does anyone know anything about this band ?? I would die for mp3s.

SW on Motor City Rock - http://www.motorcityrock.com/bands/sale ... craft.html
(2 mp3s available)

Average 70's hard/prog rock. Disappointing, with that neat band name and all.

I really like the A-Side, "Witchcraft", it's definitely got atmosphere & period charm, could almost be a Pentagram/Macabre song if they'd heavied up the harder parts.
Got to agree with Dan's assessment when it comes to the flip, not awful, just disappointing.
Still, would love to hear their other 2 45s.

Thanks for the link Dan, I really like both of the songs, Mr.Money was almost better. Good Rock music with a dark edge!

I am posting the 3 singles in the mp3 section in a few minutes. By the way this band had 4 singles. The 3 I'm sharing and the “Witchcraft/Mr. Money” already posted.

One of the former members of the band has a pretty detailed version of the Salem Witchcraft story here:

http://www.arlenrocks.com/salemwitchcraft.htm

He mentions five records, anyone know what the other one was?

Sorry, i just found the info on that site:
"In 1983, Arlen rejoined Salem to see if the magic was still there. He wrote two new songs entitled “Please Come Back” and “Don’t Leave Me Alone Tonight,” which the band recorded without much success. In 1984, Arlen decided to hang it up for good with Salem, as the bar scene was a little too much to handle."

I guess that's the missing piece of the jigsaw then, it sounds like it may be under the name of "Salem".
