Neptune/Gotham City

Post by JonahQuizz »

I was just listening to Neptune - Poem från the 84 demo and noticed that it's almost the exact same song as Gotham City - Fight and die from Live in Umeå 85.

So Björn Melander must have written the song for Neptune and then taken the same riff to Gotham City

Well, it would be the other way round, he wrote the song (or part of it) for Gotham City and then brought it to Neptune.

Okay. I thought that it was just parts to at first but when I listened again I realised it's almost the exact same song except for the "sad part" in Poem

The instrumental basis is the same for the main part of both songs, but the songs have different vocal lines, different choruses and different structure.

Yes. so which one do you like best? I think I would have to go for Fight and Die

I prefer the Gotham City song too. Mainly because I think the verse vocal melody is more powerful and more "in tune" with the music than on the Neptune version.
