V.A. Southern Comfort III

While ago I downloaded folder called "nwobhm locals mp3" on soulseek. It includes some bands I've never even heard of and some of these songs are suppose to be from various artists album called Southern Comfort III. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this album?

There's a long chapter on British local compilations at the end of McMillan's NWOBHM Encyclopedia. I don't have it around, but maybe someone else can look it up? Been very curious about those bands. Feel like sharing it?

Well I can but I have to warn you that there are no track numbers etc. and I can't even be sure if this one is one of them before someone shows me the tracklists of those compilations.

I found that also on slsk and took the trouble of figuring out what comps they were all from.

Here is what I determined:

Battle Of The Bands Vol 2:
- Thin End Of The Wedge, "The Letter"

Seaside Rock:
- Valkyrie, "Cradle To The Grave"

Southern Comfort:
- Straight Six, "Heavy Rain"
- Deuce, "Mystery Lady"
- Deuce, "Sail Me Away"
- Straight Six, "Belt It Out"
- Straight Six, "Rock & Roll"
(BTW, the Straight Six tracks rule!)

Southern Comfort III:
- Deuce, "Madhouse Parts 1&2"
- Wardog, "Wheels On The Road"
- Wardog, "I've Been Running"
- Doomwatch, "Devils Dream"

Spit 'n' Finish:
- Dark Harvest, "All Systems Go"
- Friends, "Pyramid Blue"
- Relative Ease, "Run To My Mind"

The Rockworks Album:
- Calibre, "Nowhere To Hide"
- English Rogues, "Radio Song"
- Slice, "Never Never"
- Rustic Never, "Change Your Mind"

Great work, AxeCrazy. What's the bitrate? An upload would sure be in order for us slsk-sceptics

It's ripped at 320, but it has problems. For example, "Heavy Rain" by Straight Six has some skips in it, which is a shame because it's a killer song.

I also forgot, there were some other tracks too that were from The Bridge Album - Rough Cut, Heretic, North Star, Tempest Ride, but I didn't need those since I own a copy of it

Hey Axecrazy any chance of uploading these tracks from the Bridge album? I'd love to hear that Tempest Ride track along with Heretic, Rough Cut,North Star.

I would like to hear the Calibre track ,ihave heard that its a great song,and yes,the southern comfort compilation is a good one to have,i fortunately have that,and yes ,the Straight Six tracks are killer ones,especially the ""heavy rain"" track..i also havent heard the other track of Deuceffrom the southern comfort III "madhouse parts 1& 2.Can anyone upload thissong along with Calibre?

There's some great stuff in that file; Axcrazy's right that 'heavy rain' is a KILLER. I've been trying to find a copy of the file that doesn't skip, but no luck

The Deuce tracks are by the Deuce that later did the 'radar love' single.

From the Bridge Album, the Rough Cut and Tempest Ride are THE tracks; Heretic and North Star are OK but not great IMO, and most of the remaining groups featured are pop, reggae, etc. An upload of these would be cool; I have the Tempest Ride on CD, but the other tracks I only have on vinyl and I can't burn from vinyl

Does anyone have pics of the Southern Comfort albums or know how much they sell for? I've never seen any of them but i'd be interested in getting vol 1. I don't have Malc's book handy; it doesn't give full track lists for the local samplers but I think the Southern Comfort volumes are listed with the regular compilations, so the tracklists should be in there. I do remember that he had no info on Southern Comfort 2.
