One thing that I find odd is how some metal people don't like the song "paranoid" at all. It's not the best BS song and yes it may be "overplayed" too but I can't see how anyone can dislike it.

It's like Breaking the Law to me I have heard it so many times and it's that kind of basic radio friendly kind of song. I like both songs but there would be times when I couldn't stand listening to either.

I couldn't agree more about that song's lyrics. Total shit. Those lyrics, along with those of After Forever, are so fucking bad I can't even respect Sabbath. I'm serious!

I understand that but some people never liked the song. Not even when they heard it the first time. I know a couple metalheads who dislike Iron Man too Well taste varies.. Some don't like Sabbath at all.

Fortunately I haven't heard many Black Sabbath covers!
And yes! Black Sabbath - S/T is magnificent. Probably the best one they did even though I find it hard to pick one album over all the others.

You know, it's funny you mention that. Grunge, stoner rock, nu-metal... all influenced by Sabbath. But the only real metal bands with a prominent Sabbath influence are doom metal bands. It's weird that they had a bigger influence on mainstream bands than on metal.
