I think it's my version of WinRaR.

What version are you guys using and where did you download it from?

Ah, this is frustrating.

Any more help is greatly appreciated.

I'm not going to give up and let potential lost gems be unheard by my ears.

Hmmm... from that last window you posted an image of, it looks like the folder is already expanded....? You don't have to expand the individual mp3s, just the original file that you download from Rapidshare. check and make sure you don't already have the file expanded; there willbe a folder with the mp3s inside. If so, you're ready to play 'em. If you don't have a folder w/ mp3s in it yet, read on...

When the download is finished, you should have one file from rapidshare. Next step is to open WinRar, then search for the file that you downloaded (it looks like you got to that part fine). Next, just click on the file once in order to highlight it and then look for a button that says 'Extract' or 'Extract To'. It may appear as a button on the WinRar window, or you may have to right-click or check the pull-down menus at the top of the Winrar window, but there will be an option somewhere that says 'Extract' (maybe your version will say something similar but different like 'Expand' or 'Open', I don't know). Once you click on Extract, the program will open the rapidshare rar file; usually it creates a new folder with the individual song files inside, but sometimes the song files will not be in a separate folder. At that point, the mp3's should play in any music program (itunes, windows media player, etc).
Hope you can get it to work.

Thank you.

I did as you had explained and it created a new folder on my desktop.

The only problem is the folder that it created does not have the MP3's inside of it.

What do I do next?

Hmmm. Do you get an error message when you try to expand the file? When I try to expand some files on my lab computer, I get an Error message saying the operation cannot be completed. I get an empty folder on the desktop just like you described. For those files, I transfer them to my home computer and they will expand just fine. I'm not sure why some files don't expand on the office computer; it may be a Mac vs PC issue, or it may be that the StuffIt program for Macs does not recognize how to open some rar files.

The only other thing I can suggest is to try Extracting the files using a different computer. I know that may not be convenient, but it will let you determine if your computer just can't extract the files (in which case you may need a better version of WinRar or a different extraction program) or if the problem occurs when the file is downloaded.

Some other people I know are unable to get Rapidshare to work for them. You could also try downloading a file that was uploaded on one of the other sites like Megaupload. These sites seem to be less popular, at least here at The Corroseum, but it might be worth a try just to see if your computer can expand files from those sites. If you look through the Poisonoise forum, you'll find some megaupload files here and there.

That's all I can think of. Good luck and I hope you get it sorted out; computer problems can be really frustrating.

I downloaded it from the WinRar site; don't remember which version it is (it's on the home computer; I'm in the lab today). I've used the trial version before (which is what I think you have, correct?) and I had no problems with it.
