Well, I would say that King Diamond's "Fatal Portrait" is inferor to the following 3 LP's. And I also like "Don't Break The Oath" better than "Melissa" but they're both great, so I guess that one doesn't count.

As far as I'm concerned Don't Break the Oath is the best Mercyful Fate album, with In the Shadows second.
Chroming Rose “Pressure” LP found! :D

I prefer DBTO to Melissa. I like it. Deal with it. :P

Another band that could fit into this is Bathory...

Of course not ! Tons of bands have hopefully released a better following album than their 1st. For example, i prefer "Pokoli Szinjatek" the 2nd POKOLGEP that the 1st Totalis Metal, but all in all it is a matter of taste, of course. the 2nd BROCAS HELM is for me better too than the 1st. for me at least :)

Yes I see far too many people worshiping Their S/T but It sounds nothing more than sub par venom worship to me ,I believe The Return and Under the Sign of the Black Mark are far superior to it but Blood Fire Death is my favorite but that is as just an common answer as the self titled I suppose

I was never that keen on Chastain's first album "Mystery of Illusion", but when "Ruler of the Wasteland" came out, Leather's vocal performance and Ken Mary's drumming made it a hard album to ignore...I was all over that one and it's still my favorite of anything he's ever done...

I love the first Bathory album, but the later albums are still better. It's "the Return..." for me, but it might be for nostalgic reasons. You know; angry parents, scaring everyone out at parties by putting it on, banging my head so hard it hurt for days...
I know I ain't doing much,
doing nothing means a lot to me.

Adj Uj Erot by POKOLGEP is by far their best.I prefer simply POKOLGEP when they changed their style(into more power) and their (not too good)singer Kalapacs.
