Fake drums in real metal.

Post by Nightlock »

Am I the only one who think this can have good effects as well as bad? I don't mind the following albums that have fake drums:

U.D.O. - Mean Machine
Artillery - By Inheritance
Judas Priest - Defenders Of The Faith (semi)
Judas Priest - Ram It Down
Running Wild - Pile Of Skulls
Running Wild - Black Hand Inn
Running Wild - Masquerade
Crimson Glory - Transcendence (guess, Haven't confirmed this one sounds fake?)

Which other metal albums with fake drums can you guys list?

Totally not fake drums at all!
Possibly recorded with electronic drums or triggered to the max, but there ain't no drum programming going on in these recordings!!!

anyone know about Manilla Road - The Courts of Chaos? I've heard some say those were programmed but I never got a confirmation on that, if they are fake they are sure as hell still good.

I only hate it when it is programmed to play ultra fast, like in mnay grind core bands.

I don't mind drum machines if done tastefully, as is the case with both Lordian Guard albums! Everyone should have both of those.

Razor - Open Hostility was recorded with rhytm machine and it sounds OK, however I'd prefer having real drums of course.

And I was always wondering what the hell did Flames use on their 1st album???

If done tastefully, with fills and variation, then I'm all for it.

Lordian Guard aren't bad on this front, but I'd prefer a bit of Zonder there if you know what I mean :)

Well I classify triggered and electric as fake drums :P Priest on serveral occasions have talked about how they sued drum machines on those albums. And Artillery I've read somewhere are fake.

very annoying:
Poseidon - The final gate
Defcon - Suicide

Kinda dislike the ones in Lordian Guard. A real drummer would make that record so much better, now the drumming is the weak point for me. Top notch band, apart from that.

I don't mind drum computers (if properly used) in demo's. But full-length albums by professional metal bands should have real drummers. Death to false drums!
