It was news to me that it existed as well, & with Neal Kay associated with the release i'm surprised it hadn't come to my attention before now. Because of the release date my main fear was of AOR masquerading as Metal rather than 'alterno-crap', but either way the bandnames & songtitles don't inspire too much hope with the possible exception of Gangland, a band name that seems to ring a dim bell somewhere in the ole grey matter.DaN wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 7:53 pmI'm not sure if I've ever heard about the '92-edition of the MFM series, though I'm guessing it's probably chock-full of contemporary alterno-crap. I'm having slightly higher hopes about the 7" since indie releases could usually be a bit more "wholesomely dated" than proper label stuff. I'm fairly certain I have this. Will have to dig it out for a listen as I have no clear memory. There is some hope: if I do have it there should be something on it good enough to keep, probably something thrashy or speed metal.bigfootkit wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 3:30 am

Re: The Metal Compilopedia
You can listen to about half the songs on that MFM92 cd (was never on vinyl afaict) here:
https://17329745.tistory.com/entry/Metal-For-Muthas-92
Not as bad as expected I must say - nothing mind blowing but actually pretty good, most sound more like the early days of NWOBHM than bunch of AOR infected latecomers - and all are definitely out of place for the early 90's.
Pretty sure Flight 19 is a different band to the early 80's one that had a cd anthology released recently but at least one the bands from the comp - Savannah Nix - has it's own cd comp. dunno if its legit though:

Re: The Metal Compilopedia
Flight 19 is definitely the same band, both the tracks from the MFM 92 comp are included on the 'Something We Did... (1985 - 1992)' anthology. Not my cup of tea, typical '80's AOR/Hard Rock, but having now heard the whole MFM 92 album i agree that most of it is better than i'd expected. Most bands straddle the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal nexus point, with the exception of Flight 19 & Bad Influence who are both far more in the AOR camp. Several bands seem to have one eye on the US Sleaze/Hair Metal market, but for the most part the meaty production keeps them from sounding too lightweight.
Best sounding band to me so far are Gangland who contribute a pair of good energetic Metal tracks. Nothing earth shatteringly innovative, just well played meat 'n' potatoes Brit HM which had become a scarce commodity by 1992. A bit of research shows that they also released a 2 song promo CD for the Jap market (not the same songs as on the comp) before eventually splitting, with band members going on to play with the likes of Deep Machine, Paul DiAnno's Battlezone, Tank & Dirty Deeds. Here are both their songs from Metal For Muthas '92:

Forgot to say, there was also a 15 minute promo vid made for the MFM 92 album, featuring the bands from the record and Iron Maiden's Steve Harris, Dave Murray & Nicko McBrain (and former member Dennis Stratton):

I hope you like it. I feel responsible after flagging it up, (but not responsible enough to provide a refund in the event of disappointment).

Re: The Metal Compilopedia
Aha, different bands then. I wonder why 'Flight 19' was such a popular name? Hmmm, i googled it and this seems to provide a likely answer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_19J. wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 5:40 am Wasn't aware of that cd comp - was talking about this one:

Is the title of the Space song really 'In The Middle Of A Dessert' or is that a typo?lunaboy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 9:45 pm This SWEDISH local Compilation still not featured on Corro. It's callled "Rock I Nol/Alafors" 1989 . A Few Hard Rock bands one Thrash , some AOR .

Interesting. Never seen this before - which says a lot about its rarity.
I received the Unspeakable Oath 7" a few days ago, so a page as been added, together w/ 3 new ones from Keir:

...and of course a rip:

It's not bad - in the sense that none of the tracks suck.- bigfootkit

Many thanks for shedding some light on this one DaN & for for the chance to hear it too (d/ling now). Glad you seem to have deemed it a worthwhile purchase.DaN wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 11:11 am I received the Unspeakable Oath 7" a few days ago, so a page as been added, together w/ 3 new ones from Keir:

My apologies to Keir for reminding him of the 'KIKI - Brownbags...' comp. "Truly awful (and awfully entertaining)", perfectly describes Brain Damage's contribution.
