Death Rides a Horse was formed in Copenhagen in 2007 and as witnessed through the EPs “Pantokrator” (2009) and “Tree of Woe” (2012), Death Rides a Horse have gone from strength to strength. Ever since the bands inception, they have been perfecting their musical formula, brewing up a storm of pounding drums, furious riffing and haunting vocal melodies.
At the epicenter of Death Rides a Horse’s musical onslaught lies the immensely powerful and soaring voice of Ida Hollesen who gives Death Rides a Horse a unique and unearthly sound, while the dual guitar-attack of guitarists Kenneth Engelsen and Jens Hollesen provides a solid background for Ida’s vocals.
Death Rides a Horse draws their inspiration primarily from ancient mythology, world literature and epic fantasy, and the result is a lyrical and musical universe that evokes an ancient sense of mystery. Death Rides a Horse is epic music about life and death.
A stream of successful live shows throughout Denmark, including the Metal Magic Festival in Fredericia and the Mono Goes Metal festival in Århus has confirmed the bands recognition as a musical force to be reckoned with.
Now, Death Rides a Horse are ready to present their debut album: “More God than Man”. The album clearly demonstrates Death Rides a Horse true power: a collection of songs loosely build around a concept of mythological archetypes and earthshattering guitar riffs. Heavy as hell and yet breathtakingly melodic. Powerful metal heralding mankind’s impending doom. Hence the moniker POWERDOOM.
