SOOTHSAYER (Can)
SOOTHSAYER
SOOTHSAYER were a classic Canadian thrash metal band from the 80's & only released 1 album in 1990 called Have A Good Time. After that they released a demo or 2 & faded into obscurity. They did a couple of reunion gigs here & there but that's all I know. Just recently Galy Records released their classic '86 demo To Be A Real Terrorist with some bonus live tracks. I have the original tape but I need to get this cd. Any fans here on this forum?

I own the Soothsayer - Have A Good Time CD on Restless Records.
It's a decent piece of Thrash.
The only downside are the vocals, where at times (the band having an obvious native language of french) conjure up lyrics that can be laughable at times.
I don’t know if this is the result of attempting to convert lyrics that were originally in french to english or if they’re english is just naturally that terrible.

I like their demo "To be a real Terrorist" which is honest thrash, I had some live tapes which were enjoyable too. I don't like the album that much, it was for me a big disapointment when it was released (very poor production, the songwriting is not that good and the "funny" lyrics are quite stupid). I haven't listen to the material they recorded after that.

Is that demo LP NWN released worth getting? I remember hearing something from that band but it wasn't that impressive. Can it be compared to Voor?

The '86 demo's much less silly than their album. Definitely worth it.
