Not only it was listed in Metal but at the description the seller stated
"...Artist suggests that you play this record LOUD."

So please, please, please listen to the Music Scientists mp3 but don't forget to play it LOUD.

And to my friend Sgt. Kuntz, let me just say again that i hope noone from here bought it. Being an Ebay member since 1997 i've seen many metal collectors falling into similar traps.

Hehe, well, I'd love to say that this never happened to me....but...

But with mp3s and all the blogs available today there really isn't an excuse anymore, certainly not for that price.

To be totally honest it also happened to me but before Ebay era,
back in '95 i remember buying a 7" of Jack Starr (???).
The seller stated at his list that it was a guitarist's called Jack Starr release
so i ordered it just to receive one of the funniest singles ever:

I just regret that i gave it away for free. I should have kept it to remind me how a bad seller can take advantage of an innocent collector (or to remind me how big sucker i was).

Haha, somehow this record works judging by the sound samples.

It is possible that a few people really wanted the record and had the album in they're saved searches. That way regardless what genre that the album was classified under by the seller it would still pop up in the search results.

My brother and I had something to do with finding this guy and getting the 45 put out.

Why did you ever give it away?

Was this a Norton records reissue? or a real 50's press?

John- did y'all really help pluck that one from obscurity? It sounds pretty clucked-up! Jack was probably really cocky, thinking he'd be the next Elvis but instead he really laid an egg and probably spent his life cooped up getting hen-pecked by a wife with bird legs and small breasts

(sorry, this is like the third time chickens have come up in my readings this morning. I'll stop with the bad jokes; I don't wanna ruffle anyone's feathers)

Yes.
He had a fww 45's out in the 50's (Local Dallas Rockers) all $100+

We found some acetate's in the mid 80's and tracked him down.
(I am sure my brother could tell a much better story)
Anyway we got him hooked up with Billy@ Norton and they did a LP with the stuff we found. A few 45's after that(newer recorded stuff) as the stuff we found was from the 50's.

"Bald headed woman, Long haired man"

Some really crazy rocken stuff he recorded in his restroom.

Jack lived with this Mother.......... Another crazy story.

Billy flew him to NYC for a big show, Was CRAZY! maybe the best thing I have ever seen. He was backed by the A-Bones and the place just went NUTS 1000+ in a loft near Penn Staion. I think that was 88 or 89.

He's past now... RIP

Man I feel OLD...

It was a '90s press (i think '94). Anyway i bought it for $5 or $6 and i preferred to give it away than throw it away.

Here's another rare one up on ebay; I first heard about this one almost 20 years ago; this is only the fourth copy I've seen (3 are on popsike):
