The disco overtones are rather natural, because everything was synth based except guitar and bass, and you can imagine how these drum patterns were back in '85.

Besides MANOWAR obviously, it might be that he was influenced also by NWOBHM bands who made some songs about Vikings (like SATAN's Blades Of Steel) or maybe even with THOR and his Viking novelty.
