Well, I am definitely getting it. Have only listened to it in passing but it sounded interesting and it should be my kind of thing

Re: GOOD YouTube channels?
Thanks for the info great_knuthulu. It's interesting that these parallel events were taking place in several different countries, with each of these native tongue scenes most likely entirely unknown to each other. Most of the labels who released that stuff in the time frame we're discussing would h...

Re: GOOD YouTube channels?
I think the incentive to sing in Swedish was mostly cultural. At least in the 70's and early 80's, 90% of the bands at your rehearsal place and/or scene was probably singing in Swedish, regardless of genre. As I mentioned in the stream, it was mostly the old prog and the newer punk scene who hold o...

Re: Recent Metal Finds
Four months late, but... I actually found a whole crate of that "Knights of Heaven" album by Leviticus at a thrift store in Kongsvinger when I used to live there (15+ years ago). Around 40-50 records, most of the covers damaged but the records never played. Picked up a few and have distrib...

Re: CULT OF THE UNDERDOG Podcast : Episode 14 Now Available!
I have a soft spot for that Short Cross LP. If i was being critical, they perhaps lacked a little in terms of originality & individuality, but the songs are really well crafted & played with such enthusiasm & energy that they won me over easily. If memory serves they were all still in t...

Looks like no one got "T.V.'s on the Blink" by The Action. That's a good obscure spot Keir! I doff my cap to you sir. Time to reveal all then? You have been listening to: 01. The Harry South Orchestra - The Sweeney (Closing Version) (from the 'The Sweeney' TV soundtrack 7" (19...

Getting that for sure. Have liked everything they have done so far (as does the rest of the household), so it's a no-brainer.

I've been out of circulation here too long. Good to see you keep releasing stuff on Stormspell. I need Magnabolt and Target, so I'll see if they are still around in European webshops.

Just read your review, Dan. Totally agree with the comparisons. Listening to Kratos right now, hearing some Lester Maddox in there (which is surely a coincidence, probably in recording and production). Chainsaw is a great track - pure mayhem. Not Mayhem though, more Venom or Motorhead.

Re: Marc McMillan’s NWOBHM Encyclopaedia
I remember there was talk of a new edition almost as soon as I got my copy when it had first come out. I seem to remember that somebody corrected that and said it was just a reprint but I am very hazy on the details. Of course, there has been murmurs of a new edition for years now - wonder if that w...

Re: Who's Cranking the New CIRITH UNGOL Today?
Thanks for posting the Last Rites article - good read. Agreed on the sound of the LP - I am not happy with that. The guitars should be loud and clear, not muddled up, like they are there. I am very happy with everything else though. Good to great songs, arrangements are great, the artwork is to die ...
