Raging speedy thrash that borders on death metal, pretty vicious and potent stuff! You might remember the review of the U.K.'s Incubus we did, this is obviously the more well known U.S. band. The album starts off rather deceptively, 'The Battle Of Armageddon' throws some slower, thrashier guitar work at you before the speedier pace sets the tone for the entire album. Difficult to follow the lyrics without the enclosed lyric sheet, nevertheless, the drumming is fast, solid and tight, and they do manage to throw slower breaks in the mix to let you know this band has roots in thrash metal.A pretty cult record, it has been reissued by Nuclear Blast as a two on one with "Beyond The Unknown," which came out in 1990. Not the greatest of records, but it does stay pretty solid, even if it's rather funny to hear the way the singer belts out the choruses on 'Voices From The Grave,' quick though they are. 'Blaspheming Prophets' has some pretty interesting choppy guitar work, and I believe you may find this to your linking if you want to hear your 80's metal hard, heavy and fast. As you may know, due to the crappy Faith No More ripoff band playing as Incubus today, the REAL Incubus (besides the one from the U.K.) were forced to change their name to Opprobrium. This is how you may find the two on one listed on CD today.
