I think the nicest word I could come up with when describing this 7" is 'endearing', and as far as adjectives go, I realize that is not a very Metal one. Still it's better than 'crap' and that wouldn't even be factually correct. I'll put it this way: If I played "El Inconforme" to a trusted Brother Of Metal and his response would be "Garbage!" I would not hold it against him and it would not taint my impression of his generally good tastes in The Steel Of True.
The A side basically sounds like a bedroom recording of some suburban kids churning out a cover of "Whiplash" and then coming up with their own chorus. The mixing is the usual horrible mess with the vocals waaaay to high and the guitars a suffocated blurr. When we flip sides there is at least an upswing in the songwriting department, as "Brujas De Salem" has some catchy moments and sort of nice Exciter-brand Speed Metal riffing, and you realize this actually could have been quite good with better production values.
Obviously the latter is not something we can hold against the band, considering the circumstances during which this and many similar recordings from the time and area were recorded.
I'm kinda thinking a sound like this is easier to forgive when it comes to even more brutal & primitive Death/Black/Noise-Metal material? Yeah, DANGER were definitely too True Metal to deserve this sound. At least the going price seem to be slightly cheaper than its more extreme cousin-releases so there's always that, should you want to give it a chance.
