Brutalizer

Athens (Attica)
Noisecore, Industrial
Active:
1987-unknown

What we have here is a pretty obscure Athenian Noise act, formed in December 1987 as ULTRA NOISE GROUP. The lineup included Nikolas (vocals, guitars), Grigoris (guitars), Chara (bass) and Spyros (drums). There were also plans for Giannis/John of DANGER CROSS to join on guitars, but we haven’t confirmed this yet.

The band began as more of a fun-time side project (named ULTRA NOISE GROUP as mentioned above) back in 1987, but this band quickly disbanded. In March 1989 during a rehearsal with the Greek Death Metal band SICKNESS (with whom the band probably shared members), an old U.N.G. song was allegedly picked up, which led to Nikos re-connecting with some old friends to form BRUTALIZER – although now with more of an Industrial edge to the music. In an interview with “Guillotine Zine”, Nikos himself described BRUTALIZER’s music as “Industrial with pessimistic elements and a personal sound”. Around the time of the interview, the band was yet to record a proper demo. Unfortunately, we have no record of this taking place.

In case you happen to know more than we do about BRUTALIZER, feel free to get in touch.
